I think $700 is totally fair and if the guy is great friend too then he will accept it as a fair deal it is $200 less than you paid for it... its a good bit of glass so he should be well happy.

As for that Truck..... best we could manage in UK was an old Commer camper or a Reliant robin with a mattress in the back.. those were the days. hehehe

I checked on pricegrabber.com since I'm looking for a 10-22 or the Tokina 12-24. I saw the 10-22 new on pricegrabber for $619 (not including the Canon rebate of $15). Not sure if this is a grey market item or not...

I agree. Also the 10-22 is a good lens, and if it's in good condition there's no reason you should write off so much from the purchase price.

This is a very personal opinion, but I think there must not be a specific "for a friend" and "for a stranger" price. Why should your friend pay you less than another person? why don't, for instance, he pays you MORE than another person? after all if he is your friend, you are his friend too, aren't you? why should you be the one who gets less money in the interchange just because a friendship relation exists? I think should be no distinction.

If you really appreciate your friend you can give him the 10-22 for free. But if you finally want to sell the lens to him, ask for the same amount of money you would ask anyone. If he is a true friend of yours, he won't expect a price cut and will be happy enough knowing two things: he is doing you (a friend of his) a favour for purchasing stuff that you don't need any more, and second he has the personal guarantee from a friend that the lens works properly and has no hidden faults.

Best.

yeah never got around to lowering it. she's pretty sweet 308 dual fuel. its a sad day when a boy trades cylinders for pixels.

If he doesnt take it and you are interested just let me know dude you will have first chance at it. (the lens that is, the vans gone ;)

cheers but he's a good friend the last hing I'm gunna do is rip him off

Having him give you money and you keeping both the lens and the money is ripping him off. Selling a used lens at a discount off retail isn't a rip off.
