i was wondering if there was any word from SC of there being a best of 2006 challenge. i've been looking forward to this one all year, and was just curious if we were having it.

thanks a ton.

Division A - Average of 6 and above
Division B - Average of 5.5 - 5.99
Division C - Average of 5.0 - 5.49
Division D - Average of under 4.99

Perhaps, this would make each contest manageable and then everyone could compete on some level.

Of course, I can see that lots of people would like to vote on Division A, and less on Division D. And I don't know how to level that playing field.

oh God! Can I please slide down to Div B, because I certainly don't deserve Div A and I'll get totally slaughtered there. Although, getting the Brown in Div A might be interesting.

Whatever would be easier to do. I just like the idea of awarding the year's best in multiple categories since ideally we would have lots of worthy candidates.

That would definitely be easier to choose one to enter.

And then presumably have them exclusive so people can only enter one?

And then take the best 10 or so shots from category and run them off for the Grand Finale Best of challenge?

I'd love that, because of my inconsistency, I am able to score way higher than my average and way underneath it. So, basically the challenge would be a crap shoot for me :-)

Yeah, I wish we had std deviation as well as average score :) I'm usually at least plus or minus 1 on my average, with occasional swings to +-2.5

Then we could all compete on how deviant we are...

With any luck my Pet Portrait will actually move me up a division. I'm on the brink I tells ya. ;)

However, the higher the division, the less my chances of actually doing well within it, so on second thoughts, maybe it's best to stay under the radar.

Yeah... I just recently squeezed out of division C with a run of uncharacteristically good images. I'm not sure i can handle the competition in division B :-)

hmm, quite like that idea...could have positions within a division for each challenge anyway...

I would love to but I am under 18.

But, I do see now that an open challenge for "best of" challenge would just include way to many entries. I think the last one was at 826 or something.

Guess I'll just have to wait about 6 months. Thanks for the input!

huh? There are LOTS of members who are under 18. My daughter (14) is just one of them. You can join.

One of the reason I joined when I did last year was that I knew that the Best of 2005 was coming up. It's a perque of membership.
