Again, I have to express sincere thanks to all for the offers. Beth (the bride) just read this whole thread and the PM's I have gotten and her first words were: "That is one special group of people you hang out with. So kind and generous." And I have to agree!

As much as I would love to have a mini get together, Robert has already told me his travel plans. So I guess we get cake shots with beautiful landscape and peppers. Really, I would be honored to have any that offered to shoot tomorrow.

I am looking forward to the day, have been waiting a long time for this to happen. Photog or not, we already decided it would not make a difference. So if/when Roberts makes it, that is all the better. And of course I will post some of his work.

Again, from Beth and I, a very sincere thank you for all the offers and well wishes.

Time to go to bed...I gotta get up in the morning.

No kidding. Just think, Scalvert would have gotten some cool shots of the groom holding the bride off of a ledge to symbolize trust in a wow factor sort of way. Hopper would have gotten some great closeups as he's become an expert at that. Nshapiro would have gotten some interesting impressionistic shots of the entire wedding that would have looked like a huge human waterfall. Bear Music would have gotten some cool wedding cake shots overseeing a beautiful landscape with a few colorful peppers thrown into the mix. Last but not least, mrorange002 would have had the creme de la creme when he shot his "tasty Thai" bridal shot. :P

I would have offered to do it if someone would spring plane tickets but sort of too late now, wish you all the best on your wedding tomorrow :)

PM sent. I'm in Westminster and I'll shoot what I can to help you if you need it. This happpened to a friend of mine and it devistated the bride that day.

I'd be happy to help, and consider it a Pay It Forward. I dont have a "wedding" set up as I usually stick to kids and pets but I'm used to shooting at peoples homes and with quick moving toddlers. Take up as many offers as you can, let the DPC crowd help. I'd love an imprompty get together helping someone. :)\

Just let it be noted, that if I weren't so far away and didn't suck so bad, I would have offered as well...... ; - )

Best of luck on your blessed day. As long as you have the memories, the photos aren't really important (but still nice to have).

As does mine via PM, but I guess you have charted your course satisfactorily without us :-) Good luck and blessings on you!

Thank you all for the offers!

Scalvert - yes, Neil and Hopper are just about an hour away.
Our plan is as stated above. Also stated above this will not in any way diminish the day. We didn't want a lot of pictures anyway. Only about 10 we specifically asked to have taken.

The place would be a challenge. It is all natural wood inside that is very dark. There will be a fireplace with fire to the left as well as a big window (not direct sun). So going the way we are, it is a small and very intimate setting, we figure with the people that are there with cameras and the P&S's, we will be fine.

Ok, off to run errands...how did I get stuck with all the chores today?

Heyyyyyy! I've only done that two times, and wouldn't even consider taking advantage of a bride and groom just to win a ribbon.

Now, if you two would kindly stand in front of that big TV screen over there...

What's this photographer's name? Post her name here so we can spread the word; then send her a link to this thread lol!

Yep... I have no plans for tomorrow. I think Nshapiro and Hopper are both less than an hour from you.

Don't hire Shannon!! He'll be brining all his plotter prints and make you do all sorts of weird things just so he can win another ribbon!!!! ;-)

I am also more than willing to pitch in and help. I am in Maine, not too far to travel to Mass.

Does this ever work ? We did this at our wedding, paid for all the cameras, paid for all the processing, didn't get one usable picture out of them. I've heard the idea a lot and it sounds good - but - any examples of it actually working out worth the money ?

Ours did. Our reception was outside but at night. We got the disposable kind with a flash. The quality, of course, doesn't match the prints that came from our professional photographer (who we loved) but the results were priceless (in a good way!). Having people who know you and with whom you have a history, or who have a history with each other, take photos is so much different than hiring a professional who you've met maybe once before. I suppose it depends on the group of people and, of course, there is the tendency to have multiples of every shot because whenever someone sees a pose, everyone grabs their camera, but ours were definitely successful.

Alienyst, I wish you luck with your search. I have no doubt that someone on DPC will come through for you with wonderful results. Have a lovely wedding!

One other option might be to call some of the local Universities or Community Colleges. There are likely to be several college students who are juniors or seniors and would LOVE the opportunity to expand their portfolio by shooting a wedding....and many of them would do it for less cost than the pros.

But everyone here has the right idea too.....as much of a pain in the *ss as it is, you two will still be married at the end of the day and it will be beautiful and wonderful :-)

If it's any consolation to you, when my wife and I got married in '91, my uncle -- an accomplished photographer -- was going to shoot our wedding for us. And three days before the wedding he wound up having his gall bladder removed!

So we were in the same boat, with no photographer. We just had friends from work fire away. The shots weren't the world's greatest by any stretch, but there were several "keepers," and that was that. We didn't let it ruin our day in the least; we just made the best of it and had fun. And I don't recall there ever being a single day where we found ourselves bummed out that we didn't have better wedding photos.

Enjoy YOUR day -- and best of luck to you both!

Oh, and don't get me wrong, I'd still be super-pissed at this woman, and I'd make it my life's mission to be a thorn in her side :)

I think if you set up a tripod in the church, or facility and have the settings for the person doing it, the rest - just leave up to their timing and discretion. Maybe in the end, it will be a blessing in disguise and you can use the extra money to buy one more token for your bride, or add another adventure to the budget of the honeymoon!

Cheers and best wishes.

I traveled from Sardinia to Switzerland twice in a week cause I had 2 different weddings, I was living in Switzerland when I signed the contract and also if I moved really far and with the money earned I only paid the trip, I didn't said "I cannot now"...

I am sure you will have a lot of good photos, maybe with a different style from what you expected, but a sure good memory to save :)

I wish you all the best!!!
