well merge and grayscale should be listed at one step cuse to gray scale PSE4.0 make you merge the file.

It doesn't look like you'd be breaking any advanced rules, although I'm having a bit of a hard time following your steps. It's Friday, so be patient :) You're merging layers in your next to last step, why did you create layers if you're cropping and adjusting in its own layer? It's probably a "duh!" answer, so don't laugh, OK?

like the gray tones rather than the brass colored tones it was in.

Out of curiosity, why are you grayscaling if you made the image in B/W to start?

Crop (out of normal pramaters close to a panorma format)
Adj lvls (in own layer)
Merge layers
Grayscale

will i be breaking any rules with this?
