Okay Mista...the challenge is on. Whoever gets the lowest score wins. Are you game?

Unfortunately I may beat you both here.

As for the question about partial faces, I think partial faces will induce part of the voters to say DNMC. :)

I think partial faces are fine as long as they are not the main subject. Eyes through a scarf..a popular subject on DPC is more than likely too much the subject but a distorted face or a heavily out of focus face in the background that is not the subject is probably safe if the subject is very dominent.

I hope there is a wide variety and not everyone is showing backs of heads or headless bodies.

I didn't think I'd end up getting a shot in this one, but I came up with an idea a couple hours and was able to make it work. I'm looking forward to seeing how it does (although not getting my hopes up), and to what all the other entries look like.

I think I am going to regret submitting my image.

Mine is in. God speed!

BTW, my take on the challenge is NO FACE, but even my image needed just the littlest bit of "face" to complete the composition, yet the image ranks as "portrait" in every way. I'm excited, lets roll!

This is the way I view it. Faceless means no face or with no identity . And one of the main points in the challenge is “essence of a person”. So I believe a partial face as long as the subject cannot be identified while showing the essence of the person is ok. Candid shots or portrait that don’t show the essence of the person (The properties or uniqueness of the person) I feel will not meat the challenge. Just my 2 cents.
10/08/2006 10:05:00 PM · #14
Well...since this is faceless and the description says capture the 'essence' I figure cleavage alone won't do it per the challenge, but maybe with the voters (darn perverts...:)) So I figured a statement about the person was more appropriate...if it will be perceived as such voters will tell. I don't expect to do that well in this one, but I had a lot of fun and learned a lot shooting this. That makes it worth it. Also, it is the first time I have entered a challenge with a photo of a 'model.' She has worked with me twice now - both times for this challenge (the first shoot just didn't work) and it has been a blast. I hope to be able to shoot with her in the future.

Well, my brother deleted my planned entry from my camera (I took a picture of his plummer's crack). I was going to title it "Crack Head."

I won't vote down for more than one subject but it needs to look like a portrait not a candid.

Fits nicely, but too bad you can't do the triptych thing...

I'm thinking this may spur some ideas in people's heads and, thus, more entries submitted. The more, the merrier!
