^^I think this is the closest idea to reality...I mean, they teach trasferance of energy in chemistry class.

I do not actually believe in anything because I feel to divulge one's full trust in any one thing is a foolish thing to do. Therefore, I choose to be open-minded to all ideas that are presented to me...meaning that as far as the afterlife and religion goes, I am agnostic.
Having said that, I have had many "abnormal" experiences, and while I don't believe in ghosts, I suppose anything is possible.

As well as the experience I had w/ this pic, here are some others: (read the description)

-When I was a baby and up until I was 7, I would talk to these two "creatures" outside of my window at my dad's house. I called them the monsters. They would come a few times per week and I assume they floated outside my window because I could never see them b/c of our blinds. They would talk to me about going to the city, horses, death and other random things. I would always tell them to go away, and they did...sometimes. Usually I would just converse w/them, until I was 7. I was tired of them coming and I finally shouted for them to "GO AWAY!" They were sad I wanted them to leave, but told me goodbye and I never heard from them again. I suppose they could've been imaginary friends, though they weren't very freindly.

-When I moved into a new house w/my mom when I was 5, there was a birds-of-paradise bush by the front gate. There was also a huge spider in it. At first I was very afraid of it and would run by the bush when going into the courtyard, but then I communicated with it somehow (thoughts I guess) and realized it was nice to me. The thing was huge, had very long legs, that were black with bright yellow, horizontal stripes and a black and white striped body w/ many eyes. I enjoyed seeing and saying hello, but never got to close to it. A few months later there was a big storm and the spider was gone. I asked my mom what happened to it, and she had no idea what I was talking about. I even asked a teacher several ears later what kind of spider it was...even looking through encyclopedias, but since it was about the size of a basketball, people said nothing like that existed. Boy, was I bummed out. I guess this could've been a dream or 2, or 3.

-Again, when we moved into the new house I had another experience. I was just standing in my dining room and there was a woman in the middle of the room. She looked very bright and luminous, had glossy curly blonde hair about shoulder-length, with wreath of vines around her head. She wore a sheer white dress, and no shoes. She was smiling at me in a very loving way and I remember thinking she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen, the closest I can compare her to would be an angel. She had no wings, but was somehow floating about a foot above the ground, her toes just dangling off of the floor, just smiling at me. I chalk this one to maybe bumping my head or a fever.

-When I was in middle school I was very depressed and forlorn. I think one side effect of this was premonitions. Acurate premonitions w/very few mistakes...although at times they were vague. They ranged from me finishing a stranger's sentence to predicting a death of a classmate on holloween night. One that still boggles me was when I was 12. My best friend's mom had gone to Bolivia to buy some land. For some reason, I kept asking her when her mom was coming home, even though she had told me several times. I kept on asking me and the answer would always be "Sepember 12th, Stop asking me!" I finally told her that I really didn't think was coming home on September 12 and she shrugged me off. On Sept. 9th she IMed me saying that her mom had been in a severe car accident, had broken her neck, and was in a coma. I was as shocked as she was, especially since my neck had been aching for about a week before. Her mom made a full recovery, but didn't come home until 2 months later. The preminitions stopped in High School...when I wasn't depressed anymore :) I'll say this one's a coinsidence.

-When 16 and my dad died, after his funeral I was sleeping on a hotel bed and something sat down on the edge of the bed. My back was turned to whoever was sitting there, but I was facing my mom and stepdad...the only other people in the room. I could feel the weight and the warmth of the presence next to me. I wanted to believe it was my dad, but I honestly think my mind was in shock and had generated a false feeling. I fell asleep and had a dream about him. I drempt that I was in white space or some kind of limbo, and there was and old white dial phone next to me. It rang, I picked up, and it was my dad trying to talk to me through a fuzzy connection. He was trying to tell me he found a way to communicate w/me. He also called me on my cell phone. I told the people in my friends about this, but they were skeptical and look worried. I finally convinced them by handing them the phone and they were blown away. He never actually told me anything comforting or usefull, just that he found a way to communicate with me. I've had a couple other dreams about him, but they were just discomforting. "He" (meaning my subconscious form of him) hasn't contacted me again. This is really just my mind being cruel I think.

-The most recent weird thing that happened to me was that I was sitting in my room late at night and heard someone walking around. I opened my door, but didn't see anyone. I closed it, and then a few minutes later I heard someone walking back and forth again. I studied the footsteps. They sounded heavy and fast, pacing all around the house (I floors are hardwood, so steps are very audible). I was getting more and more frightened. They didn't sound like my mom or stepddad and the certainly didn't belong to my little dogs. I grabbed a glass bottle in my room and slowly opened the door, walked down my hallway, peeked into the bathroom and the guestroom and then to the living room, kitchen, and the base of the stairs. i could hear my mom and stepdad snoring upstairs. I rushed back into my room thouroughly creeped out. Not two seconds after I closed the door behind me, I heard footsteps rushing toward my room, faster and louder than before. I backed away from the door quickly. The footsteps suddenly stopped right outside my door. I stopped breathing and didn't take my eyes off of the door. Then suddeny something hit my door HARD. I screamed of course and ran under the covers. I stayed awake for hours and decided that if I was going to die, the best way for me to go was in my sleep. I have no explanation for this. I know I was more awake than I''ve ever been. I haven't heard the footsteps again.

I actually cut out a few stories...I realize that this is ridiculously long. All are true experiences that I've had, butI still don't believe in ghosts 0.o

I went back to the same church, that I shot before, to take a shot for the death challenge, and this time got an even more bizarre shot, Has any one else experienced this phenomenon, I’ve seen and taken many shots at night, this is the first time I have seen this effect, there is nothing in front of the camera, not even a filter, behind the tripod is a wooden fence, and trees, nothing to reflect the light.
I’m open minded about ghosts, have had several strange experiences in the past.

*cracks up*

You gonna buy me a new keyboard? ;)

I have friends who are a married couple who said that one night while lying in bed (no lights on, they were not asleep, had just gone to bed), they saw a black shadow, only it wasnt a shadow, more like smoke (like in Lost, if you watch that show) that would go from corner to corner in the room. Finally it went out the door. They believe it was a demon, and I'm inclined to believe them. That creeped me out. *shiver*

Yes, I definitely believe in ghosts, spirits, and paranormal experiences. This life ain't much if it is all there :) Now, how they function and why, that's a whole topic in and of itself.

OK, when I was a kid, I would often wake up in the middle of the night and "sense" a presence in my room, which would spook me like crazy. I would "see" things, but when I would approach them, there was nothing ever real. I remember going to my parents room because I was scared.

When I was in my late teens, after having these odd experiences for almost a decade, I disconnected from these types of experiences. And, that was totally intentional.

I have known and dealt with people that have extreme experiences in these areas. I maybe wrong, but I think everyone has some type of supernatural encounters in their life, just our belief system determines how we interpret those experiences.

Believing isn't just about seeing.

Sorry for that disruption. I believe in ghosts/spirits/demons and aliens. I am also a Christian, but instead of dismissing anything I see hear or read because it doesn't fit my religious beliefs, I try to find a way to reconcile it - or not - sometimes I rely on my faith to be satisfied that whatever "it" is, God is in control of it in the grand scheme of things.

I have a very logical, practical, methodical mind and am prone to skepticism, but as has been mentioned by others, it all comes down to personal experiences that make you believe or not believe in most things. Seems there is too much evidence as a whole to dismiss the idea of ghosts, but I think the Bible does warn against communicating with the dead. Something about opening the door for demons to enter your spirit.

The existence of demons also has strong biblical basis and I have some personal experiences - very real and sometimes amusing experiences and visions. I have also met a lot of people, Christian and non-Christian, with some very amazing first-hand accounts of bizarre things.

Bla bla bla - all I really wanted to say is that I believe that being a Christian does not mean we have to deny things that there is lots of evidence for just because the Bible doesn't explain it to our satisfaction. I believe if you ask Him, God does explain it if He thinks it is in your best interest. Many times it is not - and sometimes for the simple reason that you may get caught up in and distracted by things that inhibit you from living your life.

*steps down from pulpit, to go off and study how to be an amateur gynecologist* ;-)

If they existed, I think that we would have something a little more convincing than ghost stories.

However, this nearly changed my mind...

I do believe in ghosts but I have never had personal experience with one. Closest thing I can come is my TV came on by itself at 3AM... but my power button was malfunctioning. *shrug*

I am an amateur genealogist, so I have taken dozens and dozens of pictures at graveyards, but havent ever seen anything out of the ordinary (some of these graves/graveyards are over 200 years old.) Never took any at night, though.

I do experience deja vu, though, quite often. Like I dreamed about something that would happen, and it DID happen, usually at least 5-10 years later. Mostly it's places I've been that I dreamed about going to (nothing specific like a museum or store or whatever; usually it's a room in a house that I've never been to before) or like the other day, I was doing something in a particular place at work that I remembered dreaming about before I started working there.

I have tried Ouija before but nothing happened. Guess I'm not one of the gifted ones. Not sure I want to be. :p

I've had a few encounters recently at my sister's house. She purchased this 100 year old house in NC, and has believed it was haunted from the moment they saw it. One day they were supposed to meet with the Real Estate agent at the house, and they arrived early. They tried the front door handle which was locked and turned around and the door unlocked and opened. Another time my sister's child was running through the house calling out for them, and my sister heard another voice mimicking him. One of the funny stories she told involved the bathroom. The house has those old key-holes, and when they first moved into the home they would joke with each about someone being able to spy on a person while using the bathroom by peeking in the key-hole. It became a regular joke with them, and when someone was in the bathroom they would pass the door and say " I can see you" jokingly. My sister works third shift getting home very early in the am....she gets home before anyone else gets up for the day. One day she came home, and she said the house was dark and quiet and she used the bathroom and suddenly heard a male's voice say " I can see you". My sister leaped off the pot---entered the hallway, and she said no one was up and the voice had been deep and wasn't her son's voice. I had my own encounter in the house with seeing a ghost cat. I met the cat in the hallway on my way to the bathroom...it started rubbing around my legs and I bent down to pet it and there was nothing there. My sister says she feels the cat all the time getting up on the bed, and walking around her feet. I also went to open a drawer in the bedroom...reached for it to pull it open and it opened all by itself before I even touched it....

Ghosts? -No. Spirits? -Yes. But then, to me,

all things and beings are anima, to a greater or lesser degree.

I totally believe in ghosts. It seems that my mom and my grandmother could see ghosts, have conversations with them, etc. I have oooooodles of ghost stories. I grew up in a house that we believed was haunted, and I've even had some strange things happen to me. Not to mention, the house was down a mile long dirt road next to a cornfield, and the name of the road was Blood Road!!!

In this house (we lived there from when I was about age 11 to age 23), there were so many creepy things that happened. We had 2 stories, and both stories were full houses, having a bathroom, bedrooms, a kitchen, laundry room, etc. I remember one day I was downstairs taking care of some turtles I had as pets, and I was in and out of the back bedrooms, and each time I came out of a bedroom, the front door was wide open. I shut and locked it, and then a few minutes later it was wide open again. This happened about 5 times that afternoon. I heard footsteps in the downstairs back bedroom where our computer was... We would go downstairs in the middle of winter and every door and window would be wide open and the house would be freezing. My father (who did NOT believe in ghosts when we moved in) would follow footsteps down the stairs in the middle of the night. I was home alone one day and I came out of the bathroom and our large floor plant was out in the middle of the living room. Very strange things I tell ya!

I am definitely a believer. Also, I have had a few dreams that have come true...nothing major, but little things like my best friend being pregnant...stuff like that. ;)

I totally agree. I have a friend who is a medium (she didn't ask to be able to do it - it just happens ) and soon after my father died, we had several "instances" where he appeared to her while she and I were chatting online. She had no way of knowing the things that he was showing her, so I do believe that after death, the spirits are still around us. It was VERY cool.

I have always been open minded, I took some shots of the local church, late at night, two of the shots, had some strange light trails going on, I have taken many night shots, with cars passing, and never had this effect before, I have posted the shot in my portfolio, as I did not no how to put it here, can this be some kind of reflected light, or some kind of energy light trails.

I am also an ardent fan of anything spooky. Lead me to graveyards late at night, and we'll trapse among the tombstones scaring the crap out of each other. I love scary books and scary movies about ghosts (not as much gory murder movies). I want so badly to go stay in the Lizzy Borden B&B. Would also love to visit Salem in October. So much on my spooky feild-trip wish list. Love a good ghost story too.
