have you read the next challenge Leslie? we were just warming up for it!

I too, made some sarcastic comments on the photos this week. I have seen what i consider to be "more effort" put into the past challenges. So, after sitting down and judging photo after photo after photo, i decided to get creative in my remarks. I certantly did not mean any harm, and figured that most of us could take a joke. Without an off beat comment, let me say this...I am seeing many more photos that look like they have been set up by a bunch of ad execs in a board room trying to sell a product. i wasnt throwing myself into combat, i thought rocky was already banned. i didnt see the point of picking all of his bad reviews, even if he only had one good one. if he only likes 1 of the pictures thats not our problem.

what i dont like, which is why i responded, is people trying to shield themselves frome everything. while no one is to that point yet, i'm sure it will eventually go to someone complaining that i say "i dont like the subject in the picture, i think its stupid." you cant stop someone from laughing at you behind your back while walking around town. at least here a few of the people are honest

hah, you are funny ;P

btw. I let the first reason stop me because I have a sony digital8 cam and I didn't realize how horrible the resolution is on it, since it's main purpose is video. [/i]

I started out with the same videocam. With a good software program the pictures can turn out fairly decent. I guess I can understand where you are coming from though. Even the low end digital cameras are better than the camcorders.

I just don’t understand why the fact that there are so many similar pictures in the contest. You have to accept the fact that everyone is human and what the heck there’s flowers everywhere. Just like the stop action, everyone took a ton of water shots, which to me is intriguing. I find it funny that there were so many EGGS in the transition contest. Well to me I like to get ideas from everyone.

You shouldn't let either reason stop you. Come on in, the water's fine.

Two reasons.

1. I need to get a better digital cam first.
2. I am not as good a photographer as many of the people here, but I will still submit when I get a better cam and some more time on my hands.

I am the father of a 2 year old girl myself, sorry I'm out of it with the spelling of the modern slang words. The admin can verify that I have a daughter myself anyway.

I had to say something when I found out about the comment. I am a mother too and I felt bad for you and your daughter. Say something bad about my son and you will hear from one firey shortredneck!

Thanks!!

WOW!!! How exciting you all are talking about me!!

Admin - I would love to know if you can verify iban's claim to have given my pic (3 2 13) a score of 7 or 8 as he says. If it is true than at least he is trying to be truthful, but he should be more cautious about the spelling of slang words.

The only reason that I am replying to this is because it stirred up so many other people. It seems that the comment on my picture is the most distrubing or most personal. But really it doesn't touch the hateful comment I recieved on this weeks challenge!! Drew, you may want to check it out, I think it will fill the forums next week!

The main problem with this challenge was the fact that everyone had the same lame ideas with flowers, graves, and weddings. 75% of my scores go toward originality, and if you can't accept that, then you aren't real artists.

1. Your comment on my lame grave shot that everyone else was doing was 'iban - 4/25/2002 very original'. Oddly inconsistant with your remarks here.

2. Flowers, graves and weddings comprised 8.65%, 1.9% and 2.8% of the shots, respectively. Hardly an overwhelming majority.

3. See jmseltzers post above.

4. Love back at ya... ;?)

I'm not sure that anyone *hates* you at all... Some of the comments that were displayed in here earlier make it hard for someone to wanna break pizza with ya tho...

Sure, understood. I didn't realize until later that I didn't have to put a comment, which is the main reason my comments were so short. I do understand that there will be duplication, and I don't have a problem with that as much if they try to at least do something interesting. In my opinion, every single flower pic was horrible except one, which I gave a 9, and that's the one that won the contest. I am also not out to be hateful and not out to be hated either.

i don't see any reason for banning iban...he doesn't need to explain himself for what he writes...the fact that he is getting a rise out of so many people is rediculous...move on with your lives...how about comments like "cool" or "nice" they are equally pointless and do nothing for the photographer. if you see a comment you don't like, move on with life and just be happy with what you create

My note to Iban:

When there is a challenge posted and over 100 photographers are going to be submitting photos, do you actually expect to see 100 unique photos? I agree that there are some duplicate ideas displayed in these challenges. However, I don't let that skew my opinion of the individual photographs. When you are voting in a forum such as this, you, being the phenomenal critic of art, should have an open mind to the fact that there WILL be some duplication and accept it. If you want to score duplication photos poorly, then please feel free to do so. However, when you leave a comment, try to be constructive with your criticism rather than being insulting. If you don't have time to do comments, please feel free to leave the comment box blank.

Well, as a long time internet user (7 years, when prodigy was the boss!!!) I can tell you this.

1) Lamers are forever, especially persistant ones that get new email accounts, nicknames , etc to continue the hate.

2) Like a rash, leave it alone and it will fade away.

Best way to admin a site is to give one warning and then a ban. The internet and message forums are too easy a target for nimrods to show tolerance.
