Hey Mick....head south and you'll find some good ones! There used to be a good on in Coquille and Bandon...Coosbay has one and there's a dunkin' doughnuts in NorthBend. Tell ya what though....there is nnnnoooo better espressos than the Northwest. There's this awesome bagel/sandwich/espresso place in CoosBay called "Gourmet Coastal Coffees". Everything is homemade and they used 'real' whipped cream not cool whip in a can....I used to get the "mexican mocha" .....MMMmmmmm...sometimes I miss the cool weather... *sigh*

Okay...I got off topic...sorry :)

Thanks Colette! They opened a Krispy Kreme in Beaverton, just over the hill from our house about 1/2 hour drive away. I've never stopped in myself, but some of my friends and family members do once in a while.

I need to get out of this thread. A while ago I decided I needed to loose some weight so I've been eating less lately. I went from 215 down to 185 pounds over the past few months. I haven't had breakfast yet and this thread is seriously not helping. :P

Hey, thanks Marc! But now my stomach is growling and the nearest In-N-Out is 472 miles away.

Is anyone is Redding California coming up to Portland today?

I wonder if they do mail-order.

We had one open last year. Had people waiting in lines. I just drove past where their shop was a few days ago. It's not there anymore. Guess we didn't have enough cops in town to support them. There are no other donut places in town either.

Well they do a great job on marketing ..BUT they are closing stores all over here in the USA. Opened several in the last copule of years in San Antonio TX and closed one very shortly afterwards, it was on a very busy road in the parking lot of a new Super WalMArt too. The stock (share) prices fell from their top to a more reasonable realistic level for a food manufacturer. A good fresh donut for almost anywhere is just as good and usually a lot cheaper. Heck a donut is not much more than flour, water and lots of sugar. The hype will die down soon. They make most of their money delivering donuts to convience stores and gas station to sell at these locations. The actual retail store line will soon completely go away.

Ah but Krispy Kreme doughnuts are like the difference between butter and maragarine. Once you've had one all the others just suck.

Now on the other hand I don't know that I would stand in line overnight for a box (or two) of them, sheesh I didn't even stand in line that long for my Xbox360.

Bring a box of Krispy Kremes to work and you have instant friends.

People are idiots! It's not like there would be limited supply of doughnuts.

teh very unhealthy hint about Krispy Kreme stores... if the hot doughnuts sign is on drop in .. you get a free doughnut freshly made

Overhyped but still good. It was/is the lack of availability that gives them the mystique.

Before their great expansion of a few years ago I lived outside their region since 1967. But on a Florida vacation in 1999 I saw the sign and screeched to a halt. My family had heard me sing the glories of the Krispy Kreeme Glazed Donut for years. They were as good as I remembered them from 32 years previous.

So you could say I traveled 3000 miles for a Krispy Kreeme!

Donuts are always worth the wait. :-)
Always.

We had that same sort of behavior when Krispy Kreme first came here a few years ago. It dwindled quickly, though. I've only had them once but I think that a doughnut drive-through is an excellent and hilarious idea.

Some of the best doughnuts I've ever had were in a little shop in Estes Park, Co., just outside of Rocky Mountain National Park. Mmm..donuts...

When I was in college, one opened up in that town, and I went to wait for at least an hour in the rain for donuts. I have no regrets at all.

They suck A$$. Over rated if you ask me.

Look at the same store 6 months from now. It will be just like any other doughnut shop. They have this effect all over the place. I love the doughnuts, but after you get the 1st dozen, there just doughnuts. We have 2 stores near us, and they look as busy as any other doughnut shop. But recently when the 2nd store opened, the 1st week was a madhouse.

We still treat our kids to them every now and then.

Unless Jesus himself makes it (even then...), no doughnut is worth a six hour wait.

I'll settle for Dunkin Donuts thank you very much. Krispy Kreme is good, however I thought all the hype led up to quite a disappointment when I fir had them.

IMO, the best donuts you'll ever have will never come from a chain franchise. Rather, it'll probably be some mom and pop joint down the road.

Krispy Kreme's are worth it! HAHAHA They are the best doughnut you'll ever eat - much better than you ever thought a doughnut could be. And yes, they're horrible for you, but damn they're good! :-)

When they open new locations in areas that they haven't been in before (even in the USA - for example PA just 2 years ago), people wait in line OVERNIGHT to be the first through the doors.

Don't knock 'em till you've tried 'em! YUM!

You stopped, got out of your car but did NOT take pictures ?
How dare you !

When they opened up one in Portland Oregon a few years ago there were people that were there 24hrs prior to opening and waited in line.

Really?????
maybe i shouldn't mention the fact to those people, that about 2 years ago we were staying in Penrith right across the carpark to an allnighter Krispy Kreme's and got hungry at 3 am, so we went over and had the whole shop to ourlseves for at least half an hour..!!!! They are yummy, but the worst thing is you almost ALWAYS end up eating at least 5 too many, and then get so full you have to undo your buttons...

serioulsy though, we live like 3 hours from the nearst Krispy ( i think, unless Newcastle now has one ) and we get Krispy's for our 'Donut Drive' raising money in Netball and other sports... although i dont' think they'd have time to go off, we always eat all of them that day...!

Three hours for a gut-bomb!? Are people crazy?

Not a chance for me - I won't wait in line for anything for more than 10 minutes. If the wait is longer, 9 times out of 10, whatever it is, I don't really need it.

I wouldn't. But when the first Krispy Kreme opened in Austin, lots of people did.

crayon, have you been watching Seinfeld episodes? That comment sounded so much like how Jerry Seinfeld starts one of his goofy monologues.

OK, now when served at room temp, Krispy Kreme donuts are good donuts.

HOWEVER, when the "Hot Donuts" light is on, the warm ones are one of the best damn things you can eat on this planet.

Much like a Double-Double with grilled onions from In-N-Out Burger...

One of the best Krispy Kreme Doughnut stories is the one from Albuquerque, NM where the cops that fly the helicopter landed one early morning in the newly opened Krispy Kreme Doughnut Shop parking lot to get Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. Now those were DESPERATE doughnut loving cops! You can't make that one up!
