I have a fair bit of difficulty judging whether or not the challenge is met by a lot of pictures. I tend to think of them as pictures first, so that holiness should come over as implicit in the visual message. The idea (as far as I can judge) and the composition and the technical implementation get (important) photography points. One or two titles but not many, have helped me see the 'holiness' in the picture, but taking a picture of a brick wall and giving it a title like 'The Holy Matrix of the Bricklayer' wouldn't make it for me.

It's a good thing there are lots of other people voting, so I can't do too much damage on my own.

Wow - hats off to you, and many thanks as well! Depending on what comes up this weekend, I may try to do the same. Or at least get half of 'em. Great job, and thanks for doing this!

And what other's see as holy, sometimes I don't see that way at all. Trying to view from another's perspective was difficult. I found out last challenge (negative) that I've been giving scores way too high. So this challenge, I voted much lower than I normally do, where normally I may give out 7 or 8 10s, I don't think I gave any on this one, though some probably deserved it.

NoellaSue, there's no such thing as too high or too low if it's what you feel is right. If you're voting lower now because you learned more about what too look for that makes a photo good/bad/excellent/etc., that's fine, but please don't vote lower just because you feel like you're doing it wrong somehow. Go with your gut and don't feel bad for it. :-)

You said mine was boring and you are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO right, Karen!! If you'd said anything else, I would have been disappointed. I appreciate direct and honest feedback and sincerely appreciate it. Thank you.

Nah, at that point he'd say it sucks. He's probably got a lowly 6.9 or something. ;-)

Oh, and mine definitely isn't the in the first 25 that show up for anyone, it seems.

Pretty bold talk for a bug killer! Just kidding.

As long as you're honest and constructive, I'll take all the critcism I can get. I just want to get better. And yes, I did just get NI and I overdid it on this one. Lesson learned - never apply effects when editing on a 12" notebook screen. Once I saw it on a big monitor I cringed. Still, my entry is doing better than I thought it would.

Nope, I am getting comments saying "great shot, but it's a bit of a stretch for this challenge"

Hrm, I'm not looking at it in a religious way. In fact there are some that have nothing to do with churches or religion and I think they're great. To me it's all about good or bad or other photography.

Since my scores are low -- I am guessing that the link is being missed by the younger folks on this site.

concept, concept, concept.

I have been watching too many Burger King commercials -- and they have rubbed off on me

I commented on my first 25 in the challenge too. I didnt give quite as many low scores as that, but then I usually see stuff I like in most of the images I've voted on. Hopefully all the comments people receive are good for something even if it's just to say that the person liked or disliked it.

Ha, no Rikki just misunderstands. I did the very first 25 shots I saw. The scores thusly were bell-shaped.

8 - 1
7 - 5
6 - 4
5 - 9
4 - 4
3 - 1
2 - 1

I tend to reserve 9s and 10s for the second look unless they absolutely bowl me over.
