Starting with the current challenges I am going to try to comment on 20% of Votes I cast. So in the Photojournalism II challenge there are 183 entries. If I vote on 20% of the challenge that would be 37 votes and comment on 20% of my votes, that would be 7 comments. If I vote a 100% then I will comment on 20% of my votes and it will be 37 comments.
This is the only way I can see that I can do my part voting and commenting.

I haven't been around DPC long but have decided to comment on anything that I rate 1-3 or 8-10. Then, if I feel inclined to comment on something 4-7, I can but don't feel obligated.
I know I would appreciate comments when I get low scores. Obviously, positive comments are welcomed, too. |

I second fotomann_forever's wise words about balancing comments. If you are really trying to help people, try to relate. Giving only a negative puts people on the defensive and makes them less open to what you're saying. |

It is hard (for me) to leave negative comments.
But, I try to proceed them with a compliment. I think that takes a bit of the sting out of it for the photog.
Nice idea on leaving comments on the first 20 votes too.

Good work...not easy leaving comments you can feel good about in quantity. I commend all who do. |

(I think that's who it was) of leaving comments on the first 20 entries I voted on, and trying to make them at least 20 words. It was really hard at first, but seemed to get easier as I went along. I usually don't comment on very many photos, because I can't ever think of what to say. This forced me to think of something. I think I'll continue the practice. Thanks for the idea! |
