I think the implication is Christmas because other holidays are not typically big shopping times - so you'd really only see holiday catalogs between Thanksgiving and Christmas (here in the States at least). There are a few exceptions here and there though.

thank God I found christmas decoration in those catalogues :P

Even though not specifically mentioned there is an implied reference to the current holiday season.

You could always look at some online catalogues to get ideas if you don't have catalogues in your area.

typically a Holiday Catalog is a catalog that displays sale and featured items for Christmas shopping.

Can somebody explain to me what Holiday means?

I looked it up and this is what I got:

holiday
A noun
1 vacation, holiday

leisure time away from work devoted to rest or pleasure; "we get two weeks of vacation every summer"; "we took a short holiday in Puerto Rico"

I've never seen a Holiday Catolog....trying to understand why people will take a picture of a christmas tree or decorations?

Heres my idea, which is a little bit different then some others and i hope it works. In clothing magazines for younger (early 20's -30's) they present their items in a much different idea (shirts framed on a wall, etc...), different from the standard sears wish book. I am going to lean more creative and present my product leaning more towards that idea..."out of the ordinary", I think it will still fit the challenge perfectly, or atleast I hope.

multi-image composition is not allowed. You can have two or more subjects in one photograph.

Yes, decorations show up in holiday catalogs. Trees, ornaments, tinsel, toy trains, wreaths, etc.

It's something like dumping the entire contents of a department store into a telephone book-sized publication (note: telephone books in medium to large cities in the US are about 2 inches thick). The intent is to increase consumerism on everything from batteries to run the toy you just bought to outfits to wear to the holiday party...you name it, it's marketed at Christmas.

There are also holiday fliers added to our daily newspapers. These are glossy inserts from individual stores with that week's featured sale items (note: not everything in them is "on sale" meaning reduced in price...people just think so because of the format...nobody reads anymore.) The intent is to increase consumerism. In effect, however, it simply makes every newspaper delivered to my front porch from Thanksgiving Day through New Year's about 4 inches thick with ads and very thin with news. (note: people do not leave their small dogs on the porch during delivery hours for fear of losing a beloved pet to the crush of a newspaper.)

That is a great idea troberge! I usually dislike toy photos, but I guess I will have to make an exception when voting on this challenge. I am not sure what I will do. I will have to find a model first. I don't think that I should use my daughter anymore....everyone know who she is here.

I saw it as any photo that captures the essence of the season. (Not necessarily a product). Some ideas I guess would be Christmas Tree, decorations, Santa, Sleigh etc. I think I am going to do a photo that is not a product for sale, but a front cover photo.

A picture that would be found in a catalogue. This would be a stylized photo in which the goal would be to want the consumer to buy the product through the image alone.

I think it is quite possible to see quite a few pictures of holiday catalogs being burned from those people who are tired of getting a truckload of holiday catalogs stuffed in their mailboxes:-)
