Still a bit in shock after being at 7.0 after about 30 votes but I am happy with this score, before entering I figured it would do about 5.8-6.2 and I am extremely happy with the 5 favorites and 16 of the 17 comments so no complaints here :)

This is a pretty low score for me. And only 2 comments. Sounds like the voters didn't like the shot or the idea behind it, but not so drastically that they bothered to tell me about it. ...Working in mediocrity is not very rewarding, is it? LOL

no one is dropping scores by voting 1s to everyone. I give out 1's all the time, almost as much as any other score. Reason being that anything that doesn't fit the challenge = 1. No comment no nothing, just a 1. Examples are for this challenge, any sunset automatic 1. Any outdoor picture with the sun as a light source 1. I only give 1's for entries that don't fit challenge.

My result is stabile now, but I received one funny comment from Hidden during voting.
It is: "looks very similar to another picture submitted for this challenge". Is this constructive comment, that probably this person also gave me low vote. So if he/she first saw my photo and then that other photo, other person will have the same somment WHAT THAT MEANS FOR THE VOTING OR CONSTRUCTIVE COMMENTING. THIS IS REALLY FUNNY!!!
I would like to know who made this comment!

Sorry. If I have 250 votes sitting at (eg) 5.4052 and then my next update states I have 251 votes sitting at 5.4102, then that means I have just received a 6 to 7. Sometimes I find the vote number is exact other ties a bit off...this can happen if somebody has just changed their vote at the same time.

What you do is times 250 by 5.4052 which gives 1351.3.

Then times 251 by 5.4102 which gives 1357.9602.

1357.9602 minus 1351.3 equals 6.6602.

But you need an update button for this and therefore need to be a member.

Also you can only really see the actual individual votes. If you update and you have received multiple votes then when you do the minues part of the equation you will need to then divide it by how many new votes you have received and that will give you an average.

I hope that makes sense. Sorry for not coming back to you earlier I was away from the keyboard.

Just wanted to say a huge thankyou to the person that just gave me a '1'. You are so thoughtful and obviously you are a master in photography. So much so that you didn't think it was worthy of explaining your big '1'.

I must keep an eye out for your image....it must be the only image in the whole challenge that will finish with a perfect '10'.

I agree with Dr. Achoo. Seemed like high numbers were hard for me to find, but a lot in the 6-7 range.

I have an image that's precisely what I wanted it to be when I took it. It breaks no rules of composition, it's cleanly lit by a single light source, it's technically competent in every way, and it's scoring below 4.8. I knew it wasn't going to be a top finisher, but I'm a bit surprised to be under 5. So it goes...

dropping every day... but it looks like it will be one of my 'favourite' finishes - right in the middle. As Kat mentioned, and very true - this photo is probably unremarkable.

I hope that the troll-buster algorithm will increase my score by a 10th or so in the end...

It's people like that who make me twitch. At least give people the benefit of explaining why if you're going to comment at all. That's equivalent to just saying "This Sucks!" and leaving it at that. Completely un-constructive commenting.

But even that is better to be brave and at least put low vote in the comment, but I probably received a lot of low votes but no one commented. I'm trying to comment as much as I can. Some photos I comment more some less, It just becuase I'm maybe speechless or I just do not like the photo. BUT IT IS BETTER TO COMMENT, THAN GETTING LOW VOTES WITHOUT ANY EXPLANATION AT ALL.

A score (whether high or low) IS a comment. If you get no other comment beyond that, consider the default to be "your photo is unremarkable."

Lack of a comment IS also a comment.
