I force myself to beleive it is the new voters that do it. They are confused and have the grading scale backwards....

In my opinion, some of the low scores may be that those photos were just not that good in the viewer's eye. The ones that got 9's and 10's obviously are ones they DID think were well done. Technical merit, color, perspective, clarity, etc. are all things I believe a person looks at over all and if some or all of it is or is not there in the measure an individual feels it should be then the score is affected. I find it hard to believe any DPC'ers would be here and vote high or low just for the sport of it!

Well, is not it possible that some people actually have more than one accounts (with different email add., simple !) just for voting their own photos 9s and 10s and giving others 1s and 2s just to increase their 'place' in the overall result ? If look at it like this, theses votes do 'matter'.

Some people just don't get the fact that 1=Bad, 10=Good! :-)

I admit handing out a few 1s accidently. I was trying to choose the arrow to go back to the previous image and hit 1 by mistake, also some photos got 10s by accident as well. I always review my votes so I noticed the errors and corrected them immediately. I wonder if this has happenned to others as well and they just haven't reviewed their voting. Yeah, I am a PollyAnna and would hate to think that people are intentionally trying to skew the votes.

Well, I will try to not worry so about it. I tend to see more good than bad in people, then I am suprised when I see yuckiness! As long as those that have great works get recognized and aren't harmed by the meanness of others, I guess it's alright:-)

As for me, I'll keep taking pictures and trying to improve in spite of those who care nothing about either!!!

Thanks, rikki11. I have no complaints on my scores at all. I just hate the fact that such nice photos get such horrible scores. It just seems so yucky! Why bother posting and voting if you are just going to do things like that. At least speak up and say why it deserves a low score.

Everyone gets a few of those, so they even out among the entries.

There are always mean and immature idiots, especially online where they feel free to be as stupid as they can. If voting every photo they see a one makes them feel better about themselves, well that's pretty sad, but not worth worrying about.

Just assume every single photo will have at least a handful of very low votes, and then ignore them.

for those who don't know and are new to this site..I had 10 votes of 1's on my photo that ribboned . It's always going to happen.

It always happens Amy. But in the overall scheme of things, it doesn't even matter. Some people do it to throw the curve. Some do it probably in spite. Who knows. But a felow scores in a sea of 7s, 8s, 9s and 10s doesn't matter.

Congrats by the way :)

First of all, I am very happy with my placement. I did very poorly on my first two callenges, so I was happy to do much better this time.

I am VERY DISAPPOINTED at the low scores the top photos received. I would really like to know why there were so many 1 and 2 scores for the top winners. I really would like to hear a comment or a critique on why anyone would think the top photos deserved anything less than a 5. If someone is low-balling out of spite, how immature and hurtful-SHAME ON YOU! If there is a reason for the low score, please share. It is obvious that there is something that really bothers you about a lot of the photos. This is a learning site, please share your opinion of why you give a 1 or 2.
