Our Staples and Costco stores sell individual cartridges for the Epson 2200 for about $11-$12. The Internet Ink Suppliers offer "compatible" cartridges for $6-$7.

What experience does anyone have using the cheaper off-brand inks. I'm concerned because a few years ago an Epson Stylus 700 was destroyed by using an off-brand ink. I don't want to have a similar experience. But, it is 10 years later. Things may have moved forward since then.

Help!

If printing cost is an issue, use the cheap inks. If longevity and overall print quality is an issue, use the branded inks.

I'd be careful doing that. I used off-brand paper and the epson ink didn't stick to the paper. I had a mess to clean up.

I've tried off-brand inks for an epson 960.
They seemed to work fine but the colors were always off. It took a long time to get a profile set up for the inks. Plus they were not as consistant as the genuine epson inks.

I figured with all the testing I had to do to color match, I was not really saving any money.

And you can't switch back and forth between brand and off-brand, for proof and permanent printing, because the inks feed a reservoir and it takes a while to purge it...

Not Epson but I bought a bunch of "internet" cheaper ink for my Canon i960 and I cna't wait till it all runs out so I can go back.

The colors are jsut not as sharp and not consistent at all. many times my photos will look muddy and I will have to print again. Each time I change a cartridge (six different colors) I'm never sure what I will get.

Cheap is cheap.

I get the message. Nothing's changed in 10 years. Stay with the Epson inks for the 2200 and find someplace else to save money. Thank you all

I have the Epson 2200 - and would never even consider using anything but Epson ink. I buy mine form //www.itsupplies.com for just $9.99 a cartridge. If you order $75 or more, shipping is free. They ship fast too! I usually get my order within 2-3 days of ordering.

I’d stick to the Epson brand. Most cheap brands don’t print near as nice. Black run into yellows and what not. Besides no one makes a black as good as Epson’s.
