Anyone else have any ideas?

never heard of such a problem, I think perhaps your iris is clogged with something or that your iris motor is damaged... both issues will require some time at Nikon.

Boy, do I feel like an idiot. I wrote this post, then realized I misspelled aperture, but I forgot to fix it in the post subject. D'oh!

My Nikon 35-70 has a problem. The aperture iris is sluggish. So when the camera tells it to stop down to f22, it only gets to maybe f8-f11 before the shutter has fired. Hence all of my pictures at a small aperture are horribly over exposed (about 5 stops).
My question is, is this something that can be repaired, or should I be shopping for a new lense?

Thanks in advance.
