Yup, Centarsia is a good mosaic software and its free. Love using it often.
Also when u install this programme, don't forget to actually read the "license agreement"... its one of the funniest agreement u would ever read :)

I think there's a free one called Centarsia or something like it.

Don't know the program name but the process has something to do with mosaic.

Does anyone know what this is called and how it is accomplished without painstakingly choosing each image to create the larger?

I remember having a program that would let you "paint" from an image folder....but I don't remember what it is called or anything.
