What about this crop lamedos? It shows more of the action, less of the sky. :)

Hi Lamedos... you can see my post on your DSLR question. I like this Rugby picture, I've never actually shot rugby before, so I can't tell you the best angles to get it. I also don't know the formations or anything. Anyway... very good shot with a coolpix camera... yes sports photography is more challenging when you don't have a long lens, however for my first year or so on my school newspaper I shot with a 35-105 so it really just depends on how you use it. What kind of color correction did you use on this or did you use a polarizer? beautiful sky! Pretty good action in the shot... overall a pretty nice shot, I would crop out some of the top though.

Hi Talya

what other sites do you post on?

I'd like to do a bit more sports photography myself which would be a bit of a challenge because I don't have any long lenses. Here's on I took yesterday. What do people think?

Cheers

Roy

Hey David... thanks, yeah I love the polo one too... that was THE HARDEST photo I've ever taken... I had to use an F1.2 55mm fixed manual focus lens, and shoot through a net and grime and dust... indoors, at 1600 iso... not an easy job... but I loved the outcome! This year I worked for my school newspaper (cornell daily sun) and tonight was the banquet, and I won an award for best sports photography for the year! I'm most likely going to have a part time job next year working for the Ithaca Journal, which is a Gannett paper, so my stuff could be picked up! Also I will be working for the Cornellian yearbook :-) Lots of fun stuff...

Wow! These are great photos. My favorite is the polo shot, but the rest are great, too. Apply to the daily paper tomorrow!

Hi guys... and thanks... :-) Hahaha... MK thanks for catching that... your right... it's Minnesota (2 time in a row national champions) not Missouri! OOPS! I'll definitely have to go in and fix that. Thanks. I actually meant to include the LINK Matt... I participate on SportsShooter which has some of the worlds best sports photographers... from USA Today, Getty, SI, AP, and on and on and on. It is an amazing site. For the football pic, I just got lucky for having no one in the background... when I shoot sports, I usually stay the entire game, and I rarely have the camera away from my face. Out of sometimes 200 photos I usually only get 10-20 really good ones. Anyway... I'd love any and all critiques! Thanks!

I like the field hockey and soccer pics the most. Nice work on all of them though. Question, in the football pic, how did you manage to get everyone out of the background? ;)

You should check out nikondigital.org. They have a forum there a lot of other good sports photogs there. Good work.

Nice shots although I'm pretty sure that isn't Missouri in your hockey photo ;) I love sports photos because of the expressions on the athletes faces.

Pretty good shots! I like the Princeton/Cornell football shot the best, with the snow in the background gives a great feel to it. Good stuff!
