Or how about, to make "self potrait" even more interesting, we should call it "me". So we can shoot photos of anything that we think greatly represent outselves, or what makes us today as we are. Imagine the creative entries coming from this one! I could just shoot a picture of dirt and submit, then call it, "i feel like dirt" or something, LOL

OneSweetSin, yup me too. I was hoping I'd see "self potraits" but instead we got "secondary colours" which, well, IMHO boring. Anyway, lets all keep our fingers crossed that "self potraits" are in the list of open-challenges coming up next ^_^

I was actually disappointed when I saw the challenge last night was secondary colors. I was hoping for self portraits.

I'm all for this challenge! I think there'd be so many neat pictures to look at. I just hope that if they do this one... it goes into the open challenge.

Being a new-comer, I have no idea how the challenges are decided, but I'm getting excited, hope this suggestion will be considered, and placed into the OPEN challenge :)

Great idea about the theme! I think creative spins are excellent!

Very cruel idea, I think.... I will be the one with bags under my eyes and pudding in my hair. =) Actually, I think it would be fun contest. I think there needs to be a theme with it - I like the ideas of how others see you, or how you want to be etc.... I wasn't around for the first self portrait contest, so it would be fun to revisit it!

Oh, if this suggestion is going to be taken seriously into consideration as the next challenge, pls make it an OPEN Challenge! :P That way I could show you all my beer belly too! LOL

How about "Self Portrait...from 40 feet"?

If anyone has the chance to get a copy of the current issue of Photo Insider it has an article on Anne Arden McDonald entitled Self-Portraits, Adventures & Dreamscapes. Her self portrait is so unusual and lets the imagination wonder. It was done in an old abandoned house wallpaper and plaster falling off the walls and ceiling, and she is laying in the corner in the nude covered with a very thin layer of what appears to be cheeseclothe or gauze. If anyone can duplicate it I'd give them a 10.

If I wait for that to happen we should hold this one off for a couple of years.

Is this for open or members?
If it's open, think twice about whether you want to be scared that much - coz I might enter!

I would love to have a selfportrait contest. It would be great to see some good photos of the great people here on this site.

Maybe we could all do um up prison style. One frontal, one profile. ;)

I've used up all my self-portrait ideas already :/

I love this idea, and I don't think it'll affect anonymity much, I doubt many people will be pouring through the profiles trying to match the photos. Although it's been done before, it's been awhile, let's do it again!

Sounds great but can I hit the gym for a couple of months? I stopped smoking a few months ago, so I gained a few pounds.

Interesting, or not? self-potraits. Or how about, simply potraits of persons, anyone we like?

I had suggested a challenge a few months back that resulted in "reflections without mirrors"... what I meant by my suggestion was that we do self portraits that required us to be in a reflection... but that we didn't use a mirror as that reflection. We did something similar in class the first month of first year when peoples' imaginations were still untainted and we got some awesome stuff. I think it's worth a try.

Also this way some anonymity can still be kept because our faces will likely be distorted.
