That's a fine picture even though it does require the title for all us sophisticates to "get it". It definitely has that je ne sais quoi. Composition is excellent, so are the colors (eh, color). It seems a tad light though on the positive, no negative, no positive space. Excellent choice not to have done this in B&W (the W would have just killed me). I definitely revisit this one lateron this week but for now accept my preliminary vote of 8872.354 Journey (perhaps lateron this week I can push it up to 9124.11185 but I doubt I could go much higher than that). Definitely one of my favorites this week.

Wonder how many heads this thread flew over? I bet some didn't even hear it go by. . .

By the way, you forgot that it can't be technically imperfect in any way, shape or form.

Yeah, but I don't have a lens cap for my camera...what then????
09/24/2002 06:12:26 PM · #7
...well, I think someone has already started making their own rules, and I love it...let's all rotate our images 90 degrees like this one...

neck pain?

BUT...please alternate every week between CW and CCW so our necks don't get stuck to one side.

Of course, if they all had to be shot with the lens cap in place, the cheap cameras would be just as good as the $4000 babies!

The largest my pictures can be is 480x640, so if I do any bit of cropping on my picture, to get it back up to size for the challenge, it blurs the picture. I've tried to make sure I take a good picture so I can take it directly from the camera without cropping but that's almost impossible. Unless it's a scenic shot, most all shots come out blurry, even when using a tripod. The day I get my new camera, I will be so excited that I won't be able to contain myself. I am half way there.

Anyway, until then, I think that all pictures should be slightly out of focus for the challenges.

Okay then. Good luck, hang in there.

CLarson557 what are you using to size your photos?
Have you tried IrfanView??
//www.irfanview.com/

It's free.

...and I'm sick and tired about all the comments that say my photo is not in focus. ARG!! This is something that I have tried and tried to fix. I do the best I can and I think it is in proper focus and when it goes up on the Internet for competition, it's slightly out of focus.

I think that all entries should all be slightly out of focus to give me a fair advantage. And I think that there should be a program out there that all you had to do was push a button and everything was technically perfect about your picture...then, all you would have to do is worry about compisition and creativity. ...and that program would be cheap or at least 50% of the price of the camera you bought. You guys are too funny. :) Thanks for the giggle.

I particularly like the suggestion that the images all be 1x800 -- they'd all fit on the screen at the same time!

And....when your entry is completed, you must first send it to the moderators, who must unanamously agree that it meets the challenge in every respect!

And we'll make 1 be the best score... so if I get 42 1's and 2's like the last challenge, I'll be stylin' !!

And don't forget -- all of your pictures have to look perfect on ALL monitors of ALL computers, whether properly calibrated or not!

This is the only thing I have to really disagree with. Nobody likes votes of 1. I think all votes should be either 5 or 6.

I could do that in Photoshop though - File -New
gives me a good, solid shot of nothing... so that option is out
too.
