To clairfy for the masses: The comment made could and was determined to be offensive to a particular ethnic group and included what could be argued to be a stereotypical depiction. As such, it was removed.

Please remember this is a multinational community. Consider your jokes carefully before posting. :) While it may seem funny, if it's perpetuating stereotypes it may not be something we should post here.

On that note- this thread has outlived it's usefulness. If you have further concerns please feel free to address Site Council via PM or using the Conact Us form. We always appreciate the time and energy you guys put into making DPC a fun place to hang out.

Frankly, I remembered reading the deleted post and feeling bothered by it. The apparently flippant association made between a country and a term that currently carries very negative, though powerful, connotations, surrounded by the entire current context of religion, politics and fear, was surprising.
This may have been meant as a joke, but some jokes cross lines that should not be crossed. There are differences in sensitivity levels, but a person who has been told that something is indeed a sensitive matter, but then argue about whether or not it is and continue to ignore the fact that someone, anyone, is sensitive to the matter, is showing a lot of insensitivity. Full stop.
I'm glad the admins are conscious of such issues and took an appropriate action about it.

So why not remove a remark that called someone "trailer trash" isn't it the same thing?

Edit to clarify: I never read the post but if one is racial then isn't the other? Also I am not saying he is right in his post because I didn't read it but they seem to be one in the same. I am not racial by any means. But if it is wrong for me being white to say something about another ethnic group. Then isn't it wrong for another ethnic group to say somethin derogatory about a white man?

That's not our intent. As always, there will be differences of opinion on some subjective matters. Perhaps the PM sent to you will provide enough additional explanation -- if not, you'll know who to ask.

Accusing the rest of us of being arbitrary and capricious will probably earn you negative Brownie Points, even if they don't violate the TOS themselves.

Actually I'm not looking for brownie points, but for club jungle to delete a post that was within the guidlines IS a joke. I also meant no insult for any of the SC that my original rebutal may or may not have been intended for.

But the post in nbsca7 thread wasn't deleted when he was called "trailer trash"????????

The Government is not allowed to pass a law restricting your speech. Private organizations/companies (like this site) can pretty much set up whatever rules they want ... in this case they're in the TOS everyone agrees-to when they register.

I had nothing to do with your other post -- just responding to this one ...

There was nothing wrong with that post. It was said as a joke. It wasn't racial.

I thought the states had freedom of speech???

I once thought that people had thick skin and could tell that LOL meant it was a "joke". This is BS.

What I could say to you !
Just sorry for your kind of thinking …

I think you know nothing about Iran and Iranian art …
And you don’t know the great photographers like Abbas Kiarostami ( he is also one of the greatest Film Directors in the world ) , Shirin Neshat , Kaveh Golestan & …

I am constantly monitoring the site -- it must have gone by awfully quickly for me to miss it! I agree, I should go take more pictures.

Here in Canada it's "I wish it was June 5th" day.

Since we're mostly tired of the bad weather and want the good stuff..

Year 2000 was the last year of the Twentieth Century, this is the fifth year of the Twenty-First; you start the count with year one (or 2001), as there is no year zero.

Technically yes.
But when all of the numbers roll over (1999-2000) that's good enough for me. :-)
