If you get the chance, take the walk around Ayer's Rock at dawn. Spectacular, and many many photo opportunities.
Also when we were there you could book a dinner under the stars. We had bad weather and didn't attend, but if the weather's good, you should be able to see a gazillion stars, the Milky Way, meteors ... and have a nice dinner. Sort of an astronomer's equivelent of "dinner theatre." |

Are you staying right at the rock "Uluru" itself? It takes several hours to get there from Alice Springs. I hope you will be able to see the Olgas too, for some fantastic shots of the huge rocks there.
I've climbed Uluru twice myself and I would advise one thing, do not chase your hat if it blows off, others have fallen to their death trying to do that. The climb begins in the early morning so much of it will be in shade until you get to the top and then start the climb back down. Take water to drink and carry in your backpack as it is hard work climbing it initially. If you are not climbing to the top, then walk around the base. You will see ample opportunities to take some great close up shots and see the cave paintings they have. I would grab the chance to watch it at sunset.

Forget everything written here. If you realy want a great holiday & some great photo opportunities......
Go to New Zealand!!! ;-)
I mean think about it.
What do you want to see.
Sidney, Great barrier, Ayres rock (Sp?) then your looking at about 150,000 miles betwen them all, while New Zealand is so compact & has so much to see in a smaller area.

This is the agency I used when I went in '91. They were great and offer up lots of options as far as ideas on what to do etc.

i have heard of the saying pull ya head in but never used it.
I always think of the movie dumb and dumber when the girl in the beginning says she is from Austria and Lloyd says "throw another shrimp on the barbie" LOL. cracks me up

i have a friend in Virginia Beach and her husbands favourite aussie saying is pull ya head in. LOL. The funny thing is i have never used that saying and dont think i ever will. I think it is funny the impressions people get from movies or ads etc. When i first started talking to my US friend she also thought we had pet kangaroos. LOL

Hehehe... the opera house is fun....
Lot's of great angles - but you have to go to some lengths to do something with it no-one has done before.
If you can swing it you might want to try and get to the great barrier reef (i.e cairns) you may be able to get a cheap flight out of sydney up there... It is, after all, one of the 7 natural wonders of the world.
