The first one does appear really dark on some monitors. When printed it is quite a nice photo. I even printed it out on this glow in the dark paper which gave a very haunting feel.
The latter photo is in fact a photo of a reflection in a glass window. The crown is a chandelier inside the building and the palm tree was in fact behind the photographer.

Like the fist one. Nice silouette and deep blue background sky.
But I dont like the second one very much to be honest. Dont find the subject interesting, it´s unsharp and (as saintaugust mentioned) seems to be shot through window or somekind of a glass. |

hmm.. not too much detail in the first one... a little too dark.
the second one appears to have been shot through glass?
