STORE ONE:
Me: How much for five grapes?
Store Clerk (on phone): Can someone in produce look up the price per bag of grapes?
M: Not five bags, just five grapes.
S: I don't get it...
M (holding up hand): 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 grapes. With or without stems, I don't care.
S: Ummm...
M: Don't you price them by the pound?
S: I don't know... They come in bags... I just punch in the four digit code...
M: Do you put them on your scale?
S: Scale...
M: Nevermind.

STORE TWO:
Me: Hi, do you sell your grapes by the pound?
Store Clerk: Yes.
M: I'd like five grapes, please.
S: Five pounds of grapes?
M: No, just five individual grapes. With or without stems.
S: You know... I'm not even sure the scale will register that. Just put them in your pocket and walk out, I won't tell and the manager never notices.
M: Right...

WENDY'S:
Me: How many grapes come in the fresh fruit cup?
Cashier: How many do you want?
M: Five. Can you give me five grapes?
C: Sure, we can do that.
M (I pay, then): These grapes are red.
C: Yes.
M: Do you have green grapes?
C: No.
M (mumbling): How fricking hard is it to get five fricking grapes?

BACK TO STORE ONE:
Store Clerk (excitedly when she sees me): I figured out how to ring grapes up individually!
Me: Great, here's a bag, can I have five of them?
S (hits the number five then types in the grapes code, the total comes to $8 something)
M: Uhh, I don't think that's right. You know what, cancel that order. Just give me one bag. A whole bag, I love grapes I want a whole bag of them. Yep, yummy.

Hmmm, my problem was the opposite...

First, I looked around the house for my kids rubber duckie. COuldn't find it.

Then I went out to the store to buy one... and then another... and then another... and so on and so forth.

You get the idea:)

Thats hilarious! Luckily we already had grapes. But I just found a duck finally, so I have about 20 minutes to get a good shot.

Me: Drives five miles (8km) to the nearest store and buys a package of grapes... brings them home and sets them on the kitchen counter... and off to the basement to set up our rubber duckie shot.

Me: Has all in place... the ducky, the water, the lighting systems, the camera... Ok shoot... no wait...I need the grapes.
Me: Goes to the kitchen....hummm where are the grapes I ask...."Oh the grapes on the counter you mean??? says the daughter... my friend and I ate them.... WHY???
Me: Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr back into town, get grapes, drive back home, take five grapes,,, set up shoot... all happy.
Me: Hey I know,,, I could have some grapes now.... go upstairs....Hey, where are the grapes I left on the counter??? "Oh those,,, I ate those said the Missus.

Lesson Learned.........Hide the grapes.

spend 30 minutes checking for rubber ducks, finally find one in a doll kit that includes a little rubber duck.... Next go to buy grapes and they are out of green ones... lots of red, lots of purple.... no green ones.

bah, I went to Meijer and the grapes cost more than the duck and blue posterboard put together. Stupid OGEC (Organization of Grape Exporting Countries) and their stupid expensive grapes.

ROFLMAO!! No rubber ducky or grapes here! Best of luck with the challenge!

I went to Wal-Mart to find a rubber duck, but it took me and 5 associates (yes, all at once) 30 minutes to search every isle -- from baby world to toys, from housewares to personal grooming -- before we were able to find one. That one was with the shampoo and bubble bath in the personal grooming section, and of course it was in a package with several others. After half an hour of searching I just bought them all -- I wasn't about to ask if I could buy just one.

I wouldn't call the image good -- and it is getting an appropriately low score as expected -- but the challenge was just too fun to pass on.

I know two people who are right now rolling on the floor and whose belly hurts from laughing. This was one clever gag.

Here's me thinking I was the only lunatic.
Dashed out to buy grapes and duck.
Took photo.
Ate grapes.
Suddenly realised I had not checked the f number, found that I had shot with f4.8
Had to go out ,buy grapes,
Start all over again.

At least you Americans can find grapes in stores, here in Turkey apparently it's not grape season yet :P

My mom looked in 5 different stores but couldn't find it so I asked our neighboors and luckily they had a couple that their son had bought from Istanbul a few weeks ago. Old couple, they tend to keep everything ripe.

I'm not going to lie -- I gave strong consideration to going out and buying all the items...but I had NONE of the elements sitting here so I decided it would be best to not enter.

I had the exact same problem here in Israel!
I found a way around, but I guess many people do not understand it is actually grapes. Oh well, at lease this was an amuzing and fun challenge, so I win anyhow :-)
