I'm in for the Zoo too and any others as well. I have been doing some checking about the Whitby Hosp. everything to date has been people just wandering in, no official permission. Last person I have found who was there was the 7th of March - no problem getting in however, not sure people are up for this type of activity.

Actually I'm not surprised at all that people are interested, I just want to make very sure that everyone who goes realizes that it is an illegal activity and if we get caught, you'll likely get into some type of trouble.

Now that we are advertising it, my conscience is telling me perhaps it was not the best idea to mention it on an open forum (should have discussed it at our first GTG) There are a number of kids, teens etc on this site and I wouldn’t want to encourage them in this type of activity. You have to admit a bunch of adults wandering through deserted buildings with cameras are far less likely to get into trouble then teens doing the same. There is also the mix of countries to consider, what is seen as a mild “crime” in Canada may not be so mild elsewhere.

I mentioned it first and I was excited at the idea, but as an adult with a strong sense of responsibility I am kicking myself in the butt for not thinking it through. Not trying to lecture, just trying to put it in perspective.

We also have to consider at this particular location there is severe flooding in the basement, hallways with asbestos, plenty of rusty metal, etc… I just really don’t want a kid/teen to read our posts think it’s cool and then go off alone to do his/her own investigation of abandoned buildings without taking certain safety precautions and without thinking the consequences through.

I know I’m being a hypocrite, but I can’t help but let my conscious get to me.

Well I say we don't make plans for the weekend after easter to go to the house and NOT get into trouble. Any NON-takers??? lol

I'll be there! I expect to arrive quite a bit early (8:30?) and take some outside shots. I’ll have to leave around 11:30 due to other commitments.

It looks like I'm not the only one with a new camera.

The last legal use of the buildings were for a movie shoot and they had insurance, waivers, safety professionals etc…

As for this weekend, I think I have to pass, but I'm still trying to wiggle my way out of a previous (no fun) engagement.

I'm also looking around for some more Ontario/GTA outings that people might enjoy!

space amoeba, cwyou also said they'd like to go there but didnt say whether they would come or not.

At this moment, I'm planning to show up. I really would like to get out and about a little, and the Distillery has been on my hit list for some time. Only snag is I have a lot of contract work to do, so it'll depend on how much I get done tonight. I'll do my best!

Oh, and I will have my partner along as well should I show up. She's not as much of a photog, but still quite nice to hang with, I assure you. :)
