I think that the first one looked rather funny and therefore better as the second one. :)

Thanks for the comment
I just wish I would have figured out how to change and not distort my subject sooner.

I think most of these images would look better once the text is placed on the board and it's hoisted up a pole. I know I'm happy with mine even though I know it could have been improved.

I know :)

However, if you'd seen Orussel's original post, and my original reply, you'd understand

My submission

After I figured out how to change dimensions without distorting.

WOW. Someone just gave me a 10. Thanks. (I bet in less that 5 mins. I get countered with a 1. LOL)

If only I'd have listened to my better half and not added too many elements. C'est la vie.

This is my first DQ and i thought i did what was acceptable within the Advanced editing rules.
In the rules Gradient layers are allowed.
OOH WELL.
I will know better next time[thumb]150744[/thumb]

You'll need to put the shot up in your portfolio before you can thumbnail it.

I haven't budged since vote one. Fortunately, for my sanity, I know exactly what I did wrong after recalibrating my screen, only to find major editing flaws previously unseen now bright as day. Sadly though I think many people think that I made a slick editing move(poorly executed)that I didn't make at all, which may be hurting my score.

I'm shocked! Can't say too much, but I thought I was going to get hammered. Sitting at 5.7 with 13 comments. :-)

My score has gone down A LOT. I was at 6.6 yesterday morning and now I'm at 5.9. Weird to see that big of a drop.

Fortunately this isn't an entry I'm really attached to and I was never expecting higher than 5.5 so it's all good.

A decent score, but I really would have done better if I cropped it a bit differently. I entered at the last minute. We all learn from our mistakes. Good luck all!

Mine isn't so great either, around 5.3, try harder next time, I guess

Like Brad, mine was just something I happened to shoot which I felt would look really good on a billboard, and might even be the kind of pic on a billboard. Had my scores turned off but just peeked, and it's not good.

I guess I'll never figure this place out.

I wasn't going to enter, then about 5 minutes before the deadline, I suddenly realized I had a shot for it, whipped into PS for a 2 minute (or less) crop, levels & USM, uploaded, figured out a title and entered in data, came back to look at how it would look and time had run out. Talk about down to the wire!

Pretty jazzed with it actually:
