Why is it that you usually don't like photos with children? Just curious.

This was off the charts, I gave it a 10. One of the most subtle and lovingly-rendered images in the challenge.

I totally agree! I also gave this a 10. It really struck me when I saw it. I love the softness...

Errr I guess I gave it a nine... But I really do love it. :)

I completely agree...and I gave it a 9 and wish now I had given it a 10...I like your comment that it was "lovingly rendered". A very talented photographer took this photo.

This was an alternate crop I considered that night. Or I'd be curious to see what crop you might pick out my photo--feel free (if you don't mind, I'd be appreciative).

That doesn't make us 4.476's feel any better! ;0)

Hmmm ... I don't know about that. It puts me within a point or so instead of over two away from a "good" photo.

I've been finding a ton of pink things this week, after seeing nothing inspiring the week of the challenge -- certainly nothing as good as these under-rated but fine shots.

Oh well...

In a way it's sort of comforting to know that members rate as haphazardly as non-members. As a non-member I would have rated this a 10 as well. What were they thinking?

I cant believe someone gave you a 1 on this. I do think that if you couldnt see the feet it would look more like she was being poured. And the weird focus or reflection on the bottle throws me off a little. Definetly not a 1 though.texttext

Thank you Mark and Owen! I did get some real nice comments on that one, and I'm never unhappy when it's over 80th percentile. (Though a ribbon and some top 10 finishes--I've only had one--would be nice ;)

And you could take pride in you efforts cause no one looked down on a score of 6 or better.

But now, as the community has grown, the score where you can count yourself as having done a fine job has dropped down to 5.anything, and sometimes even lower! It's just a function of the growth, I think.

Thank you very much Dana and Marissa.
I somehow expected a better result and the comments are not really telling me why.

I agree. Most children's pictures don't show much of the personality. But this little girl has attitude with a capital AT! She would make a terrific model. IMO.

For us non-members who don't count I would have given 10's for these as well. They are both great "mood" shots.

i must agree with most on these postings. i am surprised at the funky placings of some of those winners already noted. here's my entry for most underrated:

Thanks aguapreta for giving me a thumbs up!

The pink was the original color but the light changes colors about every 10 seconds.

Hard to believe it came from a burger joint.

Here is what my wife did with it for a project she is working on:

Not a bad picture at all, but I think what might have hurt it is that the model bares a strange resembalance to Barbera Streisand (devil spawn)

Hey - that's a picture of my sister you're talking about! Don't compare her to evil Barbra Streisand!

I was disappointed in how this shot finished. From some of the comments, it seemed people thought that I edited out her body, but it was just a crop of a white shirt and some curve and level adjustment.

It was also my first DQ request! woo hoo! It was validated near the end of the week, but I wonder if it would have finished better had it been validated sooner. Oh well, live and learn...
