Oooo... that's a good one. That would be near the top of the list for me too.

Oh yeah, for sure! I forgot about that...it's now third on my list, bumping off the 'white UN truck' job!

I would like to be a missonary, or work with kids, or my ultimate dream job would be to be a missonary but then write about about my travels in books that I take my own pictures for...but I'm just a kid from southern ohio, no one would really care what I wrote about...and that's just to bad

im getting paid 15$ an hour to play video games. I love research grants.

that will end though, after that I'd love to be a surf/ skate photographer or shop owner, or help non-profit organizations (ie surfrider foundation) with advertising/photography.

College Professor or professional activist; possibly in the fields of: History, philosophy, politics, environmental science, economics, anthropology. Or, President of the United States.

Shame it requires so much formal schooling and hoop jumping :/

I'd be quite happy staying in my job. I get a new V8 every 6 months all paid for. 10hrs a a day 4 days a week and have the freedom to work as hard or as little as I like. If I could get rid of the idiots I have for bosses, the idiots who I have to argue with on the side of the road, because Its my fault they are getting a ticket for do whatever it was THEY were stupid enough to be doing wrong the it would be near pertect. Failing that an architect cause I love buildings.

I would love more than anything to be a studio musician. I would not tour or have to leave my family. I would only lend my musical knowledge and talent (which by far exceeds my photo talent) to band or artists in need of such. My name would still appear inside the credits, I would still be paid a tremendous amount. Then I could afford to take my family around the world (again) and take better photos (wasn't half as good as I 'am' now).

People in professions other than mine get paid for their work. I have had to pay before I could get to work.
People with my profession can be useful to society, and, IMHO, should be paid, so they could afford a square dinner and a spartan home.

Yet we pay out obscene amounts of money to people who contribute nothing, not to mention those who take our money without asking.

While I am not complaining on my own behalf, I have seen and tasted misery, waste and injustice. If I could choose a different profession, I would be, for a while, Minister of Finance in that New Republic of mine.

I'd love to be one of those people like that lady that works with Koko the Gorrilla or Alex the African Grey parrot or something. I'd love to have long-term work with a particular animal, or a few, and put all my focus in figuring them and their potentials out. Waste of time? I think not. I think we can learn a lot about young children's learning processes by using animals as models. Why animals? The kids grow out of that stage of development to fast! Also, I think the more the general public understands animals, the more likely they'll be to have an interest in conserving wild species as a whole.

What's stopping me? I think you need formal education in animal behavior and stuff like that, and I'm not a real science-y person. I don't think having taught your parrot to speak and give 'high fours' (parrots are zygodactyls) or teaching your cat to high-five and roll over counts. Professionally, I'll stick with the arts, or eventually motherhood.

I would be a proffesional saxophonist if I sounded anything like Kenny G. Unfourtunatly, I don't.

A John Weasly Powell-ish explorer type job, but since there isn't a high demand for that job, a professional hiking/backpacking/climbing/kayaking gear tester or reviewer would be ideal. I've thought of becoming a guide or an outfitter, but I think having to deal with people all day would kind of ruin the fun.

Although... I won't complain about my current job of building things that destroy other things.

For the most part I'm as happy with my career as can be expected while working for someone else. If had the means I would drop the corporate career and become a full time landscape and nature photographer specializing in the Adirondacks and general New York area. My wife and I would run a small gallery, and live on a 10 acre woodsy plot of land where our dogs could chase squirrels all day.

Someday...

I just want to be independently wealthy without having worked for it. That doesn't seem too much to ask these days.

Actually, on reflection, I'd love not to have a profession at all but to have the wealth to follow my interests and impulses at will!
