That's only obvious if your firewall is set up to disallow particular ports.

Most are set up to only allow certain services.

If it's not working for you try clicking the safe mode box before signing in. If it still doesn't work let me know what OS and browser you are using.

Unfortunately, the chat program is proprietary, and thus we can't modify the back-end sourcecode, much to my annoyance :o/

Was this some time ago? I know it used to have problems but the latest version is very stable.

I'm not sure what Lisa is using for the chat, but I wonder if it can be set not to buffer the entire conversation? Perhaps this could be set on a user by user basis? I think we should try to make the current chat dialup friendly rather than change to something that we would have less control over and will undoubtedly cause other problems...

I had trillian installed for several weeks but found that after a few weeks it lost ability to pick up some messenger services and was left providing me with MSN IM only. It may also have been responsible for other problems on my PC at the time, hard to pin down. I took it off and things are fine now.
Sigh.
