yes for me it shows how humans have emotional and intuitive ideas about math that don't add up, so to speak. It does make sense that a country sized mass of ice would have a significant gravitational pull, but it never occurred to me to consider it.

Ditto: knew about rebound, had no clue re: gravitational attraction of very large glaciers...

Interesting stuff!
I was well aware of the "rebound" that can occur when the weight of an ice mass is removed, but had not thought that the "gravity effect" would be so large.

There are aspects of this that had never occurred to me, and I bet most of you will be surprised as well. It's not just Iceland, of course, but that's the example being discussed here.

Glaciers & Gravity + Other Juicy Tidbits...
