The sun, a flash, a worklight, a desklight, a candle, a torch, a car headlight, neon light, a fire, etc etc etc. Anyone of those combined. Or anyone of those with some kind of reflector (styrofoam, metal, mirror, a colored surface etc etc). Endless possibilities. If both need to have an effect, you just need to make sure the strength and/or distance is such that the exposure values of those sources on the subject are not too far apart.

Both good suggestions... bottom line, any kind of lamp, potentially with some low-buck (or no-buck) modifier(s) will work fine. Example, bounce a work light off a sheet of paper to produce a diffuse source.

IMO a reflector also counts as a light source -- there will be light falling on the subject which would not were the reflector not there ...

"Create a still life photograph that is illuminated by a key light and a fill light."

I do not have any lighting equipment. Is there any way I can participate in this challenge?
