I certainly agree that many of the (really good) entries in Chiaroscuro would also have done well in a low-key challenge. I do think there are substantive differences in how the two terms are defined. Low-key is all about expressing yourself using a darker palette, while chiaroscuro is specifically about the play of light and shadow, and what it reveals about shape. I can imagine a high-key image that still would be a good example of chiaroscuro.

ETA: I scheduled the Chiaroscuro challenge... when I was looking through the challenge history, I realized we had never run a chiaroscuro challenge! I was really stunned, since I know the topic has come up on the forums multiple times over the last couple decades. I loved what folks came up with for this challenge.

I wondered this after seeing the challenge results for the Chiaroscuro challenge. A majority of the top finishing entries would have done just as well in a Low Key challenge, and vice-versa. Yes / No? How is Chiaroscuro different from Low Key? Thanks.
