Maybe good to remind people about the voting rules

I'm not sure what you mean by that. It was a twofold challenge: 1, create a blot. 2, photograph it, using minimal editing. Some of us chose to just replicate our blot and enter it. Others of us chose to use the blot in a scenario of one sort or another. It will be interesting to see how it plays out, but certainly both responses are valid.

In my voting, I have not "discriminated": as long as an actual blot was created I considered the challenge met. The rest of it was figuring out which of those entries I liked best and ranking them all :-) Just another day in the polls, really.

Okay, so I did one I think is acceptable. I decided to send it to multiple family members to ask them what it made them think of/what they saw. To keep it interesting, I sent it one orientation plus vertically flipped. The father of a 16 year old boy just replied. Among other things he said,"Elijah was with me in the car and I showed him B and asked what he saw and the first thing he saw was a uterus."

I already think I'm in trouble . . . or maybe he is . . .

I was so busy focusing on FS 2021_02 that I forgot this one was concurrent. Fortunately, I have a fountain pen and, therefore, nice bottle of ink, and some decent art papers to work with. And Nam kindly reminded us it's MINIMAL :-) Easiest. Entry. EVER!

Go for it, people! It's fun!

The accessory you want for this task (if you have a lot to do) is a "copy stand" ... used for archiving, animation capture, etc.

Remember to set your camera to jpg (or Raw + jpg) and don't wait until the last minute. Taking a picture of a picture without distortion and with a rule set that prevents you from fixing lens distortion is not easy.

Easier than I thought it would be as I taped the picture to the wall and shot straight on. (I'd been thinking of the difficulty of shooting straight down on something which I always have trouble with.)

Thanks for the tips, Nikki.

Given that there's only a couple days left to enter I think you should take your chances and shoot what you think best fits the challenge. Discussing it now, after others' have already entered, I don't know, just doesn't feel right IMO.

Maybe PM a few friends / acquaintances on DPC for an opinion?

I wouldn't give limits to fantasy. It's interesting also to shot something that looks like rorschach's cards but not necessary a blot over a paper
