"Thank you for dinner. It was so delicious! I loved the beans and the chicken. You must have a fabulous stove!!"
:D

Or if they're standing there and I have my camera, I make sure it's set on Manual, change the settings, and hand it to them, "Oh here! You try it! I think you'll get some great shots!"
*grin*

But really.
What do you say when they say that to you?

Surely they do. People say it to me quite often.

Jeb, everyone who's listened to "Car Talk" knows that the real solution to a persistent check-engine light is a small piece of black electrician's tape -- a lot cheaper than one of those $29.95 rip-offs ... ;-)

FWIW, I've had a mechanic get a reading for my check-engine light four times and was never charged, though the obvious fix would be to quit using an "idiot-light" and instead install a tiny screen on the dashboard which displays the error code ...

I've actually never had anyone assume I had a great camera ... :-(

Well thanks! I do appreciate that, Jeb.

I guess this time it bothered me because I was shooting someone for free because they asked me to.

I loved giving her the gift of my "talent". But, then to hear that it's not me... it's that I have a great camera. Well... why did I bother? I could have just loaned her my camera and saved an hour of shooting and no telling how much time editing.

I guess it just stole my joy and that's my bad. I shouldn't have let it.

Oh well...

:D

Life is good, right?

It's *SO* clueless that it barely registers with me.

It's kinda like those $29.95 code readers they sell you to shut off your check engine light and save thousands of dollars from rip-off mechanics.

Yeah..... 'Cause that $30 box is going to tell you exactly what's wrong and how to fix it.

I'll take TWO!!!

That'll save me from wasting SOOOOOOOO much time trying to determine WHY the code was set, which one or two of the twelve codes that are set are the real ones and which are consequential.....which are hard codes that indicate the sensor or that are a result of why the sensor is installed in the first place.......which ones affect how the car performs and which ones are more regulatory directed.

Anyway.....

The "You must have a...." people just get a nod, and a "Yep." from me.

'Cause I do! I have a great camera. And maybe someday I'll even learn to do everything it can! LOL!
