I was just being silly when the topic was suggested. It was far from a challenge topic at the time.

Have a nip of New Year's Eve cheer! :D

You're too late. The Thingie Wars have begun..... take up your thingie and follow me

Sounds like a call for Art. Pitchforks and flaming torches. :-)

I do wish people, in general, would stop asking the community for their consensus on what constitutes a valid interpretation of the topic and focus instead on asking themselves "What do *I* want to do with this topic, what floats MY boat?"

I'm NOT "calling out" Roz and Jomari and Lydia here, because this stuff happens with every challenge, but it seems to this cranky, dyspeptic ol' bear that there's no surer way to homogenize the results of a challenge than to get everyone agreeing ahead of time what the topic "really" means or is asking for, or what the voters are likely to tolerate.

I can honestly say I never think about that anymore. On the other hand, I don't win a lot of ribbons either. Or didn't before I got my really tall tripod anyway. And I use THAT because it energizes ME, not because it turns out to please the voters.

I'll get off my soapbox now, sorry.

Put a thingie on the same thingie, like red on red, paper on paper, shoe on shoe, like on like basically. There's leeway here. It's up to the voters :-)

i know there's leeway .. and its up to the voters ..
just wondering if we have to actually put something on something ..
what if we just happened to find something in our travels that totally fits but we didnt actually put it there ..
and does it have to be singular .. can it be thingies on thingies ..
be interested in the consensus .. :)

I'm glad you asked coz I'm wondering the exact same thingies.
My intention was to craft a challenge description for which no consensus is possible. I may have succeeded.

I heartily support your premise but you needn't be so explicitly redundant ... ;-)
