Of course, now that I think about it, many of my highest scores will go to "glorious morning light" scenes just because . . . well, just because the light gives me so much pleasure. But as for consciously holding back a bit on other images, I won't be doing that. Other things can delight me equally.

Sunrise is now at 6am here, the "glorious morning light"(synonymous with "golden hour" I assume) finishes by 7am so maybe the description should have said "up to 1 hour after sunrise in your time zone"? By 9am we have the harsh summer light. That's if it is not cloudy.

PS I guess those in far north would not like it though as their sunrise might be at 3am! ;)

I get that, Bear, but... really... the challenge was to show us what you did with your morning. SC is charged with making sure it was when we did it.

So... IMHO, anything goes... as long as it was between 5 and 11 am our time (per the description).

I loved seeing what folks did with their morning.

I absolutely agree. We all know I hate descriptions anyway, but really to impose an interpretation of "glorious morning light" on the entries as a requisite for a good score is silly. Still, if that's what the voter wants to do, I can't do a thing about it.

It's understandable to me that an otherwise very nice image that nevertheless doesn't shout "morning light" at the viewer might do less well than it otherwise would. It's not enugh just to take a picture in the morning :-)

I like my image. Not sure what's wrong with it to the voters.

Oh well... Next time. ;D

They are a hard lot the voters they are hard to satisfy !!!!!

My impression lately from seeing the entries in challenges is that even though you have submitted a technically or creative entry you will get knocked down if it even remotely does not meet the challenge. That being said I vote on whether I like the picture, not as importantly if it meets the challenge. Looking at this challenge I wonder if people are being voted down if the picture does not clearly define the “Morning”. For instance a great shot of a bird might be voted down because there is no pictorial evidence other than the rules that the picture was taken in the morning. Just my opinion.

And yet any other type of photo doesn't prove it was morning either. Golden hour can be faked easily, fog can be, etc.

It's not up to us to believe or not believe. We're supposed to vote as if the rules are followed, and if we have a question, click on the suspect rules violation link.

I debated my entry, because I figured that some people would expect morning lit landscapes. But it just says take a picture of it in some gorgeous morning light. It doesn't specify what "it" means.

Take a photo between 5 AM and 11 AM in your time zone. Get up and out there, or stay in bed: either way, take a picture of it in some gorgeous morning light.

It doesn't matter much to me. I'm happy with my shot, and I didn't expect much. But I think people need to read the descriptions more carefully and less carefully at the same time. More carefully: look to see if there are other meanings. Less carefully: don't box yourself in. A good chunk of the joy in these challenges is to see how others see the world. :)

I don't often vote anymore, but when I do, meeting the challenge is my top criteria.
Creativity and thinking outside of the box are more important than technique.

Lovely images in the Show Us Your Morning challenge - and much variety.

I had hoped for better and was disappointed to wake up to a low five (improving slightly), so I decided to take a look for myself. Now I've decided to be happy with it :)
