Sounds like you're getting boxed-in ...

And now, my other two entries in voting have the exact same score!

As an (un?)interesting side note...

My score is EXACTLY the same with 18 votes as it was with 12 votes.

Exactly the same.

I appreciate your being open to change, Fishy Fred!!

That way the drops will not be precipitous and the rises will always have meaning, in the sense that any vote 7 or higher will raise the score on practically all images :-)

Right Robert thanks that gave me the following idea of voting which I think will work and will keep everyone happy. This will involve 4 passes. No drops will happen at all, scores can only be adjusted upwards or stay the same.
I'll do a first pass where I give one's to the images I feel are between a 1 and a 5
Then I'll do a second pass giving five's to the images I feel are between a 5 and a 10
My third pass will adjust the between 1 and 5 images
My fourth pass will adjust the between 5 and 10 images

I think that should/could work fine.... always open to any better ideas of course :)

I vote in a similar manner except that I use different ‘place holders’ for the first round: Either a 6 or no vote at all (yet). This is much less disturbing for the people who are online and see their average jumping up and down (or the other way around) and get frustrated.

Same here. I normally start with relatively lower votes(for example 6's for the images I like) and see if I can increase them later, much more nicer for the people who watch the progress in voting. Handing out a 10 and lower to a 6 is really demotivating.
But thanks ThingFish for coming forwards so we now at least know what is happening

The rot continues unabatedly...After 13 votes now down to 5.6700. Looking forward to the brown at this rate:) oh and reading through this thread I just saw all the anxiety and anguish caused inadvertently by my voting method. I own up it’s me causing you all the grief and pain by the way I always vote. You see I vote as follows: I go through the entries in three runs.. first run I separate the entries into two distinct categories by giving either a 1 or a 10. Then I go for a second run through all the entries I gave a 10 and adjust them between 10 and 5. Then I do a third run and go through all the entries I gave a 1 and adjust them between 1 and 5. I have been voting like this for quite a while and find it makes it easier for me to vote this way. So sorry folks but you are really worrying for nothing.

You have no 1's, no vote lower than a 5, O queen-of-paranoia :-)

Naw, just a person with a degree in math, so I get curious and do the math.

But my score also went up without new votes, so I understand why you didn't see it.

A fun, little game... with rewards here... for someone.

Since the revisions happened after my second post here I'd rather think the 1s were accidental and not part of a "game" ... "assuming the worst" about people (voters) is bound to drive people away too ...

I think the person went back and upped all of the one votes.

Mine went up to where it was right when others’ did.

Had gone down at the same time, too.

The last two votes at the time totaled five.

Then, it went back to where it was.

A fun, little game... with rewards here... for someone.

I do t care how folks vote... IF they’re voting an honest scale for every image.

If I get a one just like everyone else, then I’m happy the voter is either happy, or had fun! Ha!!

Or both!!

Can you submit a ticket outlining the situation and your concerns so that the "appropriate" people can deal with it?

Also, remember that aberrant votes can be scrubbed automatically at rollover -- that is not an ongoing process during the voting.
