If you're just starting out you might consider renting what you need until you can afford to equip yourself professionally. While you can get by with limited gear, it will be a challenge to consistently produce the images that your clients will expect of you.

Optimally, you would cover the range from 16mm to 200mm; this may be done with two or three lenses. I carry a 16-35, 24-70, and a 70-200; your mileage may vary. The bulk of my images are shot with the 24-70 (it really is a great lens), but I am shooting with full-frame bodies. If you get the 24-70, you should seriously consider renting a wider lens to make sure you are fully covered.

Good luck!

I have a Zeiss 35/80 f3.5 on my camera mostly, its a great lens,cost a tad over$1000
but the image quality is top notch, team this with a 70/210 zoom and off you go.
BTW I used to photograph weddings.

It won't help, since you are on a crop body that 24 will behave like 38mm and that would narrow down your wedding shots. Definitely not recommend.
