The photo is awesome, Janine. What a thrill that must have been. The whole adventure must have been fabulous. I love the b+w version, too.

How fun! Are the snow cats loud?

Inside they are - YNP has strict regulation on all companies that run tours in the park who use machines. Every year the companies have to get new permits - every year their machines HAVE to meet the lowest emission & noise requirements - even if it means replacing their equipment yearly.

The snow cats that we were on are very old - but in amazing restored condition - I figure their mechanics re- configure the engines & emissions yearly.

They were/ are built in Canada. They were made to be used as school buses....interesting huh

We truly did!!!

One of the Snow Cats was 1965 (ours) and the other was 1953 - made in Canada - one of the uses was to take kids to school (school bus). They were both in remarkable shape - well cared for!

I’ll tell you what - our guide starts in Sep/Oct doing push-ups to build her upper body strength - watching her drive that thing was something else!!!
