I had a similar problem. Trying using your device when disconnected from the internet.

I did calibration using a web-based tool for years, and that was back when monitors were much less well calibrated out of the box. It's a decent approximation, and if you get good correlation when you print, then I'd tend to not worry about it further.
Full disclosure, I do own a hardware calibration device currently, but then again I'm know to be a little anal, LOL.

i recently bought a new laptop with Win 10 Pro and my old Spyder 2 Express monitor calibration device/software doesn’t seem to work anymore (Spyder device not being seen when plugged into the USB port)

a new Spyder or comparable calibration device is quite pricey.

i’ve seen that there are quite a few online “tools” (most look like various color test patterns) that are free to assist with manual calibration. and apparently there is a built in Win 10 calibration tool.

any thoughts on the online vs. external device calibration? i really liked the Spyder b/c it was totally objective and not dependent on my eyes, but not sure it is worth the $$$ this time since my livelihood isn’t photography
