Thanks Johanna for the insight into your creation. I would never have guessed how you created this. That dragon must be quiet a sight in the desert.
Incredible Photoshop skills to create the water how you have described.

I've gotten a lot of questions about this image, so I thought I'd share how I created it.



The dragon is actually in the middle of the Anza Borrego desert. This composite contains only 3 images: two of them for the dragon, one for the sky.





Everything else is brushes: ocean texture, waves, foam, droplets, drool, lightning. The ocean is a gradient layer.

Massive amounts of dodging.
