Good day all,
I am a new user and I am attempting to participate in the daguerreotype challenge, but I am perplexed by the standard editing rules. In this regard, standard editing rules dictate, "use images that do not meet the source or date requirements as textures in your entry if they function specifically as textures and not to circumvent other rules." Does this mean we are able to utilize public domain textures to mimic the appearance of a daguerreotype type print i.e. tarnishing and scratching?

Hello and welcome to the craziness! The short answer to your question is yes....though apparently this recent blue, which made use of this very rule, caused some consternation amongst certain members, was validated by SC and keeps its ribbon :-)

Yup! You can use public domain textures or create your own. They just have to be used particularly as a texture not to create an actual object in your photo.

and WELCOME!!!!
