Who do you think you are?

You don't like the challenge, don't shoot for it.

This is on *NO* level about you and this vitriolic, self-centered diatribe is one of the most disgusting displays I've ever seen here.

DP Challenge has had much positive effect on so many photographers for so many years.

Take what you need to enhance your experience and skills or don't.

But if this is the only thing you have to offer, STFU.

I actually know how Jake feels. I felt the same way when I saw "Layered Landscapes" as a DPL topic.

I hate shooting landscapes. I don't just dislike to do it, I hate to do it.

But, I did it. I did mumble a little in our team thread... but that was the extent.

Did I do well at it? Nope.

But, I went out and found a landscape. Two actually... and I shot them the best that I could.

I agree with Jomari. All plants are "Vegetables" in the Animal, Mineral, or Vegetable classification.

Shoot a fruit. (but not Juliet) :D

Hi Guys
Jake is speaking for himself, not for our team. While I agree that the challenge is wonky and I wish it were different,I expressed my opinion and it ends there.
While I love and appreciate Jake, I do not share his opinion of DP nor his rage. My team members will speak for themselves. I am sorry things have gotten so
angry. We're going to shoot vegetables. Amen.

Team The Hit Squad

You know what mate, You have single highhandedly lost DPL for your whole team.

You know why..........

I can not remember ONE single photo you guys have shot. ALL I see when I see your Team logo, is your vile temper childish temper tantrum and blaming others for your complete lack of imagination or team spirit in trying to tackle a problem.

There are people who leave this site and others who are vividly remembered for their photographs. Then their are others, who you mention their name and all you remember is their behavior. When you finally leave, that is what your legacy will be. Whiny.

No one wants to see your bloody spread sheet or data, you are embarrassing yourself Jog on and go and find a vegetable.

This wasn't an evil SC plot JakeKurdsjuk. This shows how little attention you have paid to other posts in this temper tantrum of a thread.

I just looked at the past 180 or so threads (going back a year) in the "Challenge Suggestions" forum and ONE of them was started by you ... where are the other 99 "better" topics listed?

From my point of view, this sounds like a lot to lay at the foot of the scheduling. Participation, after all, is a membership issue, and if members are just gonna bail on entering once they are out of the race, that's not a scheduling/challenge topic issue really. To say that we should be anticipating reduced participation, that reduced participation would skew the results, and so forth and so on, is an awful lot to lay on us, honestly. So I am kind of annoyed.

It is what it is at this point, and that's the end of it. We'll certainly bear these sort of thoughts in mind as we move on to DPL5 down the road. We're sorry some of you aren't happy, but it's time to spend the energy on the CHALLENGE, don't you think?

And your point of view is precisely the problem, Robert. It's dead consistent, immovable, and willing to listen but not to change. Hell yes we are laying a lot at the foot of scheduling - you put this together, it's your freaking job to make sure that you run it right. It's not a hard thing to do because it's not your first rodeo. You had weeks to plan this.

In one morning I put together numbers from available data showing precisely what happens when regular season is over and people bail. It's not like this is the first year you've done this. 3 years ago participation dropped by 50% after week 5, and the place wasn't dying. You were at death's door when you started so you had to expect at least that (you got 60% drop). Then in the last week you pick a challenge which, as was said, is side challenge material, and put it not when there is participate but when there is the absolute least motivation for anyone to submit something - during the final week in the slot for the Member Only challenge. It's not a "leveler", it's a freaking scavenger hunt for people with nothing else to do. There are a hundred field leveling challenges I could name in the time I've invested here and you all could have picked one of them. And if this was planned since the beginning it's even more laughable because it shows how little attention you all pay. I'm freaking glad you're annoyed. I hope you stay that way until you realize that it's crap like this that killed this place.

I'll go now. I've got one more ridiculous picture to take for this place.

Remember the old game, Animal, Vegetable or Mineral? Supposedly everything fits one of those categories. Fruit definitely fits into Vegetable.

The audacity, the blatant rule violation, you are a rebel, a rebel with a cause to prove you can cucumber, it, even when you are not allowed. Shame on you. I hand my head in mock shame for you.

Just "wow" them with an aesthetically pleasing photo and they'll love it. That seems to be the name of the game these days.

Got kinda tired of reading the whole thread, but thought I'd pipe in anyway.

It does seem like an awful challenge, but yet, it's brilliant in a way.

We lost our chance at the finals, because we had no hope of competing in a landscape challenge. We knew before we even started that there's nothing that we had that could compete with mountains. And look at the final results. How many mountains were in the top 10.

This is a weird challenge, but I would have MUCH rather had this than something that we knew we would lose entering.

It is a more level playing Field. Though it is going to require some luck in finding your subject.

This speaks to a photographers eye to recognize and ability to shoot a good shot

I am 12 hours ahead of you and my day just started. My wife is a chef and I asked her if she sees an animal in any vegetable, don't cook it but just bring home. :P

Glad that you said these issues will be thought about for DPL5. I am sure both teams are on to creating images for finals though we are making a case here.

For the record, I think this is an incredible kerfuffle over nothing. This is a totally level-field challenge that calls for some serious thought and creativity. Both teams are dealing with exactly the same issues regarding participation and scoring, and both teams are counting scores from TWO challenges towards this final round, so what's the huge fuss?

When certain individuals get themselves all worked up and resort to badgering/hectoring administration over challenge topics, for heaven's sake, including sly insinuations of boycott discussions, that's just not very acceptable communication IMO. And that's all I'm gonna allow myself to say on that, for the moment :-(

Threatening to leave or boycott challenges or other actions is different from just "venting" or expressing a "disagreement" -- the OP even admitted he "was the a$$h*** ..." about it ...
