I Love your outtake. It would have been in my top few.

I got multiple comments to the effect that my entry wasn't "contre-jour enough" ...

The camera was pointed more or less directly toward the sun, as shown by the shaded back of the all-white bird and a bit of its shadow, but I was able to take advantage of the natural reflection from the glare on the water just to the right of the bird (and possibly some from the windows on the building across the street) to light the head/neck.

SaraR - I would have made the same choice you did . . . but the flowers are all lovely.

sarampo - I think you made the right choice, but I like the one facing into the frame, too. I thought it was a very strong entry and it got a 9 from me.

Cuttooth - I prefer your entry - more to wonder about and imagine, I think. Is it silly that the cone makes me think of St. Nicolas and kind of throws the outtake off for me?

A toss-up between this one and the one I entered. I like both equally.

I also liked your entry better, it felt it had a story behind it.

Thanks for the feedback! I rarely think to take stuff out and I'm not very good at it. I loved his ears. :)

Gave you a 6 on your entry and would have given you at least that on the outtake . . . maybe a point or two higher.

I LOVED the entry but so wished you had taken out the traffic light :(

Happy with my entry and okay with the finish, but I think I'd have been happier still had I taken out the trees and reflections as Chrystyne suggests.

These were some of my outtakes:

Team was seriously underwhelmed by flowers, so I went out again and got the fishing shots. VERY glad to have done so . . . and the family loves them and already had prints made :)
