I’m afraid that the more we bring attention to the lack of votes, the less votes there will be. Best to let it be.

Raised my interest too. As long as I can remember it has always been around 50%, ie: I would get 1 vote for every 2 views but this FS I was in double figure views before I got my 1st vote. Currently:
Votes: 6
Views: 19

Will be interested to see the final tally.

Yah.... I got views right after rollover, but no votes until about 8:00 a.m. EDT.

Me too! 9 views..no votes. Maybe it's Free Study Burnout! We've been doing this for so long has it become painful to make yet another decision and calculation on a number.
Maybe we have seen every entry, in one form or another, 10 times before?
Maybe we need to hire an outside firm to vote and comment on our entires? We can all take a sabbatical and return when we're 'refreshed'? Maybe?

I wonder if something is broken

Good point -- it can be tested if someone votes on all the images -- then SOMEONE (else) should have a vote ...

Interesting ... this is the first time I've experienced this, but I just got a 6th 7th view on my FS with no votes yet.

I will also always cruise through once before I vote...

Without votes what do we have?
Without votes it's not even facebook.

Just check out the "participant vote" vs the "non-participant vote" on all of your entries and decide if you actually want "everyone who enters must vote" as the criteria.

Thanks, people. I appreciate the input and I understand now.

Could be me, too. On a variation of Georges' method, I run through and vote. Then I run through and fine tune without necessarily opening every image again. Then I fine tune again. Some entries get multiple views from me.

We also have people that comment but don't vote.

Could be me, too.
Very often I take a quick look at the entries first.
Did it today again and still didn't vote.

Only paid members can vote on member challenges. White shirts can view but not vote.

1. I'm pretty sure some people will quickly scan through the entries before voting, so if it's right after roll-over this could be the reason.

2. Remember that you can view a picture multiple times but only vote once, so there are almost always (eventually) more views than votes -- I like to think that people are so fascinated by my image that they just have to come back and view it again and again, if only to lower their vote by a notch .... ;-)

I have always advocated that a requirement for entry in a challenge is that the entrant vote on all the images in the challenge.

Not bad, but seeing that then you are ensuring that all your competition - who also want to be on the front page - are voting on your image too, is it really such a wise idea? And how about those rare challenges where you actually do have a triple-digit entry? I remember the good ol' days when a monthly FS would have 400-500 entries, easy.

Well I'd be ok with a 20% vote requirement or your image gets tossed. As cynical as I am, I don't believe there are a significant number of people that are petty enough to low-vote others' entries to boost their chances. Seems utterly childish and pointless.

Have considered that, but wouldn't it all average out unless low scores were intentionally given to the best pictures. It would probably constrict the bell curve.

Bottom line: We'll never know. ;-)
