Van Gogh doesn't NEED Extended Editing; under the current Standard ruleset you can go to town with filters.

Please don't go to town with filters!!!! NO NO.
This will only add add insult to injury.
Am so sadden by this challenge - let's re-read the challenge Study the art of this Impressionist master and distill his way of seeing not his brushwork or sad life

I think that would have been much easier with a monet challenge than a Van Gogh challenge. I tried to think through this, but couldn't come up with a plan through photography. You have to understand, that for us non-art people, the experimentation with the filters and many other things in editing that I won't mention here, it brings us to an experience in life that we (or at least not I) hadn't experienced. It's not just filters. It's finding how we see what he's created and what makes most of an impression in our mind.

I haven't painted. Last night I did a last minute entry. Yet working with the editing options I chose, I felt like I was painting. I noticed things in a way I hadn't considered before. I wasn't a photographer dodging and burning. I was an artist playing with elements that I don't think of/see/experience as a photographer. I wish I had spent more time on it last night. I'm wondering if my photography editing would have been better for really immersing myself in the process. (extremely busy time of year, but I wanted to at least play for a short period of time...)

By the way, filter/editing are doing poorly too, fred. Started in the 3s. Made a huge leap into the 4s now!
If you learned something about photography, or art, or yourself, then you already won the challenge.

Absolutely. That's what I think of most challenges here. Entering the ones for which you're not good/not interested/or just plain ignorant are when you discover the most. It's a huge mistake to only enter that challenges that interest you or in which you can excel.

LOL I predicted I'd end up with somewhere around a 3.5 to 3.8 on this one. Not too far off. :-)

Did have a blast learning more about the editing software / tools I have installed. :-D

Anyway the voters obviously DO want and like the filter effects as my non-filter entry is being heavily down voted.

Take it easy, filters entries are down voted too ;)

I completely agree with you, I was just pointing out that Extended Editing is not the only place filters can be used.

I think I'd have stopped painting anyway... if I painted like Vince... but I'm no art critic.

This is an interesting thing...They recreated his bedroom and put it on AirBnB for $10 a night.

Wow.

It is indeed an awesome re-creation. Would gladly spend the night there so long as mattress is comfy :-)
