I sent him a PM :-) Being an ex-chef myself, he just got onto my "want to meet" list. As would be any Norwegian or other DPCer who can be where we are in early September, comes to that.

The trip sounds fantastic. I think you'll like Viking, their service is top notch and the food is better than most other cruise lines I've been on.

We traveled on Viking Star's maiden voyage, from Istanbul to Barcelona, a year and a half ago, and loved it. No climbing walls, no water slides, no casino, no rococo decor, just clean modern Scandinavian design and thoughtful public spaces.

... and an emphasis on the places being visited, along with a schedule that maximizes the opportunity for time ashore during the day.

It was a great experience for my first cruise :-), except for Robert being laid low with bronchitis for 3 days.

Aww, you'll be coming to Newfoundland but not the east coast (St. John's) where I live! Too bad, we could have met up if you were.

Damn, that member sounds familiar. I think I remember discussing Bergen with someone who lived around there but I can't remember who it was.

That sounds like a really nice trip! We have Norway and Iceland both on our bucket lists. Is it a cruise back? Link to any organized trip info?

Thanks. Definitely looks like a great trip. For my wife to be interested, we'd need to be sure some of those excursions involve some good hikes! Love to hear about it and see your pics when you get back!

That's the thing of it; I'd THOUGHT they were PMs but I haven't been able to locate them. I have many thousands of them and I don't remember a key to search with. All I know is we'll be GOING to Bergen next fall to catch a boat back to America via Iceland, Greenland, etc, and we hope we can spend some time before in his hotel :-(

ETA: I assume you did a search here:

Did all that. Memory's a sieve. It can barely stroll, let alone jog.

My mind's like a steel sieve.

Have you done an image search for "Bergen"?

You probably already did this, but . . .

maybe do a search on Norway and see what comes up. Scan the thumbs for user names that look familiar. Maybe that will jog your memory.

Unfortunately, it's neither of those. Our Unknown Norwegian was running a small hotel on a Fjord on the west coast north of Bergen :-(

Perhaps it was TrollMan Robert.
