I like seeing captions that help me understand what I'm looking at, and I feel disappointed when they are not there.

I enjoy "short stories" such as your two grape harvest pics - a wide shot to set the scene, followed by a detailed, zoomed-in view, to show details.

Last month I attended a photography workshop in Southern France. This was such an intensive experience that I wanted to share it with you. I felt and still feel exhausted and motivated at the same time.

The workshop took place in the Bourgogne region - best known for its fabulous Beaujolais and Chardonnay wine and the Charolais beef. There were 12 participants, hosted in a former distillery (very romantic, almost like a museum) pampered with incredible cuisine made by the host Danielle. We made some excursions to a metal artist, a fowl market, a cattle auction, a scrap metal yard and took part in the grape harvest.

The photography lessons were held by a very nice but also quite demanding photographer with high didactical skills. I think I learned some essential things about taking and evaluating pictures. He wasn’t content at all with a technically flawless shot and always insisted that we offered an additional level, something to think about, within our pictures. Something that holds the viewers eye for more than a moment. I do hope I can implement some of the things I learned in the future.

For those of you who are interested, here are some impressions of this awesome week:
