I would agree that the Note 4 is quite lacking in the ability to get close up. When you get close, the focus seems to constantly "hunt", and pictures I have managed to get are very soft, bordering on fuzzy. If I take a photo from a bit of a distance (about 6 inches or more), and crop the image, I get much better results, but overall, images are still quite soft, in my opinion. Lighting has to be pretty good too, to get a decent, sharp(ish) image.

Nowhere near as good as my Galaxy S4 was...it captured remarkable macro images.

The macro mode is gone but it's still possible to take macro shots. You can selectively focus by touching the screen. I've taken plenty of bug shots with it.

I gather it's an app issue.. but as I don't use mobile devices for photography I'm not able to offer any suggestions. Bowing to the expertis eon this site!

A colleague has recently switched from a Samsung Note 2 to a Samsung Note 4 and commented on the fact that in the upgrade she has lost the ability to take macro shots (she has a particular interest in flower details). Apparently the Note 2 was excellent at this but not the new Note 4. She asked if I knew of any apps that she could upload to replace the gap. I said I'd ask around.....

If anyone out there has any advice she'd be be very grateful!
