Thanks, cryan. I'll trying cleaning and aligning the heads tonight.

Yep, that would be banding due to dirty print heads. It should clear up if you run the deep cleaning program built into the printer and then realign the print heads. All of this should be on the menu of the printer. If none of that works after a couple of times it might also be you need to download the latest drivers. I've rin into this problem for years on the 3880 and the 4900.
