This has become very popular lately in portrait photography, not necessarily silhouetted images. I would be in for this one.

Depends on what you're trying to achieve. An example would be a silhouette against the sunset, in which you would just expose for the sunset and whatever is in the foreground would be silhouetted.

Contre-jour is a photographic term that means 'against the light' and refers to pictures taken when the camera is pointing towards (or roughly towards) the main light source. Capture a photo using this technique.
